HFL Passcode Help

HFL Passcode Help
I just bought a 2006 TL, love it, but it was used, and now when I try to program the Hands Free Link, it is asking me for the 4 digit passcode, and have no idea. Tried to disconnect the battery, but did not work. Can this be reset without going to the dealer, and if so how. Thanks for the help. Love my Acura!!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a non-dealer fix for this, and yes, battery disconnect doesn't work. See attached: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...light=password
If you got the car from an Acura dealer or dealer group with a Honda store, it should clear it out the PIN for free. G/L!

Yes, as part of "phone setup" you press the talk button and make up your own 4 digit passcode.........1234....... and then when you pair your phone you will need to enter it into the phone in order for it to pair up.

Oops. I think I may have misunderstood your post and that the above posters are correct- hopefully you are being asked to create a passcode for your phone.
You will need the PIN cleared by the dealer only if there are already numbers and entries in the TL's phonebook from the prior owner.

Thanks for the replies, however, since I bought this vehicle used, the previous owner had set his or her password, and I can not get into it. I guess I am off to the dealer.

The password is on a per phone basis, every phone you pair (up to 6) has it's own password that YOU create. It doesn't matter what previous owners had used as passwords as they were for their own phones, not yours.
Now, if you're trying to access the user phone book than that may be password protected and require a visit to the dealer.
As the previous poster said, when prompted for a password, speak the 4 digits you want and wait, the HFL will repeat the 4 digits for confirmation then the car will search for your phone, you then enter the 4 digits on your phone and you're paired.
This password is a 1 time only password strictly for pairing, after the phone is paired the password becomes irrelevent.

Thanks once again for all the advice, but although I tried hard these solutions, it will not give me any option other then entering the digit code. I have tried all the basics including the previous owners, phone (which is now disconnected), and his address which is still in the car. No luck. I am off to Acura tomorrow, hopefully they will cover this under the warranty.

You are not understanding the process. It is a 4 digit code that you make up each time you wish to pair a phone. It is not a 7 digit phone number or a previous owners address. You will only need to know this password for 1 minute then you can forget it.

Like another user has said above. This password is a 1 time only password strictly for pairing, after the phone is paired the password becomes irrelevent.

I have tried all kinds of 4 digit numbers, everytime I try to pair my cell phone, the system tells me the number is incorrect and the HFL is locked. Even the voice activation for the Navigation is locked. As I said earlier, off to the dealer tomorrow.

I am having the same problem. I have tried searching for days to come up with a solution. If nobody has experienced this first hand you CANNOT continue in the hfl menu unless you have the previous owners 4 digit passcode. Trust me when I say I have spent hours trying to do something about it. j2bates is an Acura Tech, he is going to try to find out the exact process and get back to me tonight, but I know he is going to tell me that I have to go to the dealership. Ohwell.
Here is my thread on this and I will keep you updated when it is fixed.

Just to let everyone know. I got it fixed. The ONLY way to fix it is to put in the 4 digit passcode. I actually found the previous owners name in the service manual, called the dealership where he bought it. I had them contact previous owner and asked for the code and he remembered it! The service manager that I spoke with said the only other option was to REPLACE the HFL system. So make sure that there is no HFL passcode when you purchase a TL.
