HFL - Make calls from cell phone?
HFL - Make calls from cell phone?
Is there anyway I can initiate a call from my cell phone and have the HFL system kick in and take over the call? I know I can transfer to the HFL after I make the call according to the book, but with my cell phone as soon as I hit send on the cell phone it disconnects from HFL and makes the call through the cell phone.
My cell phone is a Nokia 6255i.
Sometimes I have to look through my phonebook in my phone for a number, and would rather just press send than have to give HFL the voice command to dial the number.

You can toggle back and forth between the handset and the car by using the "Transfer" command.
Once the call connects hit the HFL and say "Transfer" it should bring it over to the handsfree. You'll have to wait until the call actually begins to connect or it'll just drop. I've done it with limited success on mine... usually because I try it too early in the call.

It depends on the phone. With my SE Z600, I can initiate say the command while it's ringing. If it's too early it says Phone In Use. If you do it right and it transfers over, your MID will say In Use.
With my SE Z800, I have to wait until the call actually connects to do the transfer and even then it may say Phone In Use. With the Z800, if I call via the phone it automatically asks me if I want to receive the call on the handset, if I say no, it transfers over to the HFL and well that's no good as the car doesn't pick it up. go figure.

i have a blackberry and transfer calls all the time, rather than having to put 100 people in my car's memory. The first attempt (and sometimes second) is always a failure with the transfer command (the first time seems to force the system back to radio), and on the 2nd or 3rd attempt connects the call. Usually, the phone waits to connect the call until it's transferred to the HFL...
I also have a BB 7290 and would like to know a simple way to initiate a call from my BB address book and have the HFL pick it up. Now, if I look up a name and hit dial, it just dials on the BB and won't connect with the HFL. Transfer is a poor choice, never works until the call is connected and then the person on the line is wondering why no one is there!
Any other ideas???
Thank you.

I have a Sony Ericsson T637 and i have had hidious time trying to use my voice mail thru the HFL system because of the touch tone prompts, to the point where i had to be out of the car to check my VM. so one day i disconneted the bluetooth link thru the phone(takes a few secs) and dialed. to my suprise after the call was placed the HFL automatically picks up the call after the call is placed and i'm able to use the touch tone promts thru my phone(which i was unable to do before). i also do this now for numbers on my phone book, try this it might work.
