HELP!!! power/amp question
recently i've been riding around with my buddys system in my trunk to see if its any different.. so we decided to swap back and BAM my shit dont work in my car no more... apparently i have no power comming to the amp i guess?
the ONLY thing that happend is that during the switch the ground and power wires touched.. they've touched before, but nothing happend. i accidently touched them again and during the touch my fuse blew out that time so i swapped it for a new one but still nothing works..
what i noticed though is that right when i connect the fuse, the power lights up for maybe 20-30 seconds then it turns off.. if i take the fuse off and connect it again same thing. so there HAS to be power comming to the amps but then it just stops?! can anyone help me... could the wires have all gone bad? am i gonna need to rewire the car if so thanks..

all work and no play
you might have a loose power or ground connection? its enough to power it up, but as soon as it tries to draw more power it shuts off. Like if you have a loose wire on your starter or battery? check all your connections

sparking the two wires wouldnt result in the wire going complete bad though right..? the power cable connected to my battery looks fine (that was never messed with) and the ground looks fine.. bolted to my car..
i looked at my fuse box today and swaped it for a new one just cuz and still nothing
the only thing that could be wrong is the ground and power wires right?? but i cant find anything wrong with them

i guess im going to have to get my hands on a voltmeter and see where the shortage is comming from.

how about your fuse. 30 amp?, how about your power cable. it is 0,4, 8,10 gauge? is it 1000watts amp or 100watts? i have a feeling you dont have enough juice.

cables are monster 4gauages
amp is 400wattamp, the other amp i had running before all this was a jl 500watt amp
i dont think enough juice is the problem.. friend is running the same setup and it all works in his car, and it all worked in mine too until i guess i sparked the two cables.
i understand this is a hard question for you guys cuz its osmething you'd have to look at to see, but thanks for trying. ill wait til i get a voltmeter and have my friend look at it. i just dont know why everything stopped working and i guess its cuz of the spark but ground/powerlines/fuses all look fine..

so you touched your ground and power and blew something connected to your remote? haha let me know cuz to check my high low converter i'd have to take apart some stuff on the passenger side... but if thats it thanks a million
EDIT:
hmm i just googled loc and i guess that is the high low, but how did touching those two wires blow the hi/lo?

i touched the power and ground that came out of the LOC, so it shorted out the circuit in the loc, which my remote ran out of, so dead loc = amp not turning on cuz the remote is no longer working, i dont know the logistics behind the wires touching i just know they did, i heard a pop and the LOC smelled smokey, changed it out and it worked fine

still havent figured it out? What he ment was the LOC has a ground wire coming out of it so you can ground the LOC if necessary. He touched the power and the ground from the loc together and shorted it out. In his case the remote turn on for the amp came from the LOC so his amp wouldnt turn on.
If your amp works in your friends car you need to start checking your power wires. Make sure you have power for the remote wire, I believe you said you already checked your 4awg wire so check the remote. Have your friend turn the system on while you watch the meter. See if the voltage drops out after it initially comes on.

dooode its ur remote fuse..up under ur dash...chek that fuse. ive done tons of systems..n ran across this proble..chek ur remote fuse. recently this happened to me too..amp wud power on for like 10 seconds and turn off..it was the remote. either way chek all connections with a voltage meter. but im almos POSITIVE it has something to do with ur remote wire or fuse.
and even though fuses dont look burnt out..sometimes they are but just dont like it.
