HELP I screwed up my stereo!!

Well I tried to hook up an amp and a sub.

I got the signal from after the OEM amp (stock sub speaker wires) to an LOC and then to my amp and then to the sub. I got my remote wire from some Yellow wire under the passenger side kick panel (this I think was my mistake).

I turned it on and my amp turned on but very very very low volume. I turned my gains to full on the LOC and the AMP, still very very very low volume.......THEN.....

The entire deck and climate control display turned off. My Climate conrol still works but with no display, my stereo does not turn on,( it will eject the cd's), and my HFL buttons on the stering wheel don't work. WTF!!

I am assuming I did something very wrong but I don't know what I did.
I have Checked the circuit breaker(100A), and my inline fuse, and the Radio fuse under the dash, all were still good.

Any help on how to fix my 06 TL from my stupididy would help!!

Trying to install MTX1000D and a JL W6 V2 wired parrallel at 2 ohms

The first thing I would try is disconnecting everything you added to see if things come back for you. I'm guessing you shorted a speaker lead to ground by accident when you connected the LOC, but I have no idea if that would cause those problems.

Good luck.

In the under-dash fuse box, check fuse 32 and then check fuse 7. Both are rated at 7.5A. If those are ok then check fuse #4, 10A in the under-hood fuse box.

yellow is LR- for amp input, or RR- for amp output (speaker). I think XM wires also have a yellow one? amp remote_on is red with yellow stripe. what wires you tap your LOC into?

I used a light tester, and it only had power when the key was on (it came out of the brown connector in front of the stock amp). I should have made sure I knew what that wire was.

I disconneceted the stock sub and used the speaker wire from that to go to my LOC

CROOK you were right fuse #32 was blown.

Now can I just use the OEM amp remote turn on (Yellow with red stripe) on the black and white connector for my new aftermarket remote wire, just by tapping into it.

Don't you hate it when something like that happens! Break out in a cold sweat and then wonder how much it's going to cost! Been there.

I'm glad it was just a fuse!!!!

Same here. I was working on my sister's brand spanking new 4Runner and I decided to get stupid and install a toggle on the amp remote wire so she could flip it on and off. I somehow shorted something out. After sweating for a couple hours thinking I fried her factory head unit, I took it into a shop... they were on the verge of giving up when they said they found that I shorted something... (Apparently, it wasn't a fuse ). Anyhow $50 later with everything up and running I couldn't be more happy.

Are you saying that you can't use connector #B7 because it's only 8 volt? If that's the case, where is a good place to tap for the aftermarket amps turn-on wire? I'm currently working on my upgrade...thanks

yep, I ended up using the 12V wire for my cigarette lighter in the dash, its easy to get to. just remove the glove box and side of the center console and you can reach it from the passengers side. It worked great for me.

Good luck

it's 12V. but it's quite weak and may not turn on some amps.
