Head Unit problem or not ???
Can someone confirm the output voltage on the two front channels. Mine are not the same. Left is much stronger then the right channel. I played a 1khz tone at volume 33 and measured 0.64volts on the right and 1.2Volts on the left channel. Is something wrong with my headunit or is this normal.
No wonder i always had this problem where the left side was overwhelming the other. I confirmed the output on the amp as well. big difference.
Since i am going to bridge the amp i could raise the gain on the right a little to match the outputs.
But is this normal ??
Hoping to get some answers soon as im currently trying to figure out whats going on....
thanks guys

its the right side thats louder... i mistyped up there..
so front right channel was at 1.2 and front left channel was at 0.64
it was a 1khz note download from realmofexursion.com
link to download http://www.realmofexcursion.com/audio/1khz.mp3
thanx a lot man

I'll see if I can test it out tonight, if not definitely tomorrow. In the meantime let's take it another step further. Test out the same tone at the same volume level at the amplifier's input as well as the output. This way we'll be able to tell if the problem's in the headunit or the amplifier.

You have a pretty unique problem, this is why I suggest posting it on DIYMA where one of the electronics gurus could probably identify the problem right away and with people like Matt R, you could probably get it fixed and modified better than stock for about the same $300 it would cost to have a brand new one shipped to you.
The voltage on one side is higher than what should be possible. The voltage on the other is too low. The sum of the two channels is about where the sum should be if everything were working right. While I don't know what this means, I bet it would be cake for an expert to diagnose.
I'm really close to seeing if he will mod mine. One of the mods is a 4v out voltage instead of the .8-.9v at full power and a lower noise floor.
As far as I know, you ditched the stock amp, right? If not, take it out of the loop and measure again. Also, you're measuring with the amps or line driver or whatever comes after the HU disconnected, right?
