HD Dice + Ipod

This device has been discussed briefly in the Dice Ipod Adapter thread , but I wanted to start a thread specifically to discuss the HD Dice unit.

http://www.diceelectronics.com/hd_integration.htm

Has anyone installed this yet? With the Ipod add-on?

Nick, any word on the interface update?

I've Installed 5 of these DICE Units, all of them but one have come back because the products malfunctioned. Though the DICE units do offer an all in one solution, it's a waste of money. All 4 customers said they would advise against purchasing this product. One good thing that must be said though, is that the DICE Tech Support and Customer Service Teams are very understanding and will advance you any new equipment you need, but honestly I'd stay away from DICE for now.

You are seeing these problems specifically on the HD DICE or just the Dice Ipod hardware?

A mix of both, 3 of the installs were with the hd, 1 of the 3 have not returned, but the install has only been done within 30 days. 2 of the installs were with the ipod. In my professional opinion go with the usa spec piece, more info is available here www.usaspec.com as for hd, here is what i recommend as a cost effective and absolutely amazing piece of equipment, Directed's HD Car Connect it's $200 retail, though it does not offer a concealed installation. Hope this info helps.

You said you installed 5 HD units, and now you just stated you did 3. Which one is it?

What shop are you attached to? Who is your supplier?

I never specified the units one way or the other. Car Spa, in Arlington, VA. As for our distributors, I believe they are either DAS, DBL, or PETRA. You must understand I do not deal much with placing the orders with the distributors so I'm just going off of where we give the majority of our sales.

I never specified one way or the other. I currently work for Sonic Sound in VA, as for my distributors, I currently have no DICE Distributors, For two reasons, 1) All of the units I've discussed on this thread are customer supplied, which were purchased online, and we're factory sealed, 2) I do not carry products in my store that I would not install in my own vehicle.

In Every Instance. Like I have said before, the technical support team and customer service team are absolutely great, the products simply aren't.

We definitely appreciate your experience with this. I hope that we can solve some of these issues to create a better experience next time. It is my experience that adapting iPod to the Honda/Acura radio is a frustrating game by itself. Please know that DICE, as well as others, are always working to make their products better for both the installer and the customer. A problem that you had before might not exist today. Please consider contacting me in the future if you have any questions or concern.

Are they were always Honda pieces? Your failure rate is extra-ordanary.

Damn Honda! I have had the same experience with many Honda cars. And with many AUX IN and iPod adapters. I have a 2007 Accord that has problems with any iPod adapter that I plug into it. I also have a TL that hates aftermarket plug-ins. It's something that I've learned to deal with. Honda is behind the curve when it comes to OEM integration....

Well, if I may be blunt - you're doing something wrong during an install; your failure rate is way, way too high, especially so for Honda/Acura's.

At first I thought so as well, but for each install I followed all installation instructions and all advice from tech support and with each install after discussing the situation(s) with the tech team they agreed with me, that _____ piece of equipment was DOA, whether that was an antenna for HD, a bad iPod cable, a bad control module, etc...
