In conclusion, you should not put speakers on the trunk lid unless they are high end speakers.

No, I would not agree with that at all.....

Conclusion, Polk are NOT high end speakers, in fact they are pretty low end budget speakers and the OP is making something that does NOT need high end speakers. But saying it doesn't get much better than Polk, shows he has a lot to learn about audio.

However, has he considered the weight? Meaning, he is doing this to have music project with the trunk lid open, but he will probably need a stick or something to prop his trunk open because the factory springs probably won't support the added weight. So, he will never be able to just open his trunk and have it stay open.

Also, he can't use the factory amp to power these or it will cause the amp to shut off/melt down due to the ohm load the amp is seeing, so what is he planning to use??? Is he really going to wire an aftermarket amp special to drive these??? Since he had made no mention of an amp, I assume he is planning to wire to the factory amp and blow the amp. The only other option I could think of is unplugging the rear speakers in the car and using those channels of the factory amp to power the speakers, in which he then can't shut them off (at least not without a very robust switch) and the sound inside the car would suffer greatly.

Kid...im sorry no one will take you seriously now ...especially with a sig that talks about a civic beating a Ferrari...

You must be one of the people that think if you can get it at Best Buy then your doing good . Companies that spend money making the product look better over performance is what entices people to buy their product that have no knowledge of what they are doing.

I would suggest makeing a kill switch so when the trunk is closed the extra speakers are off.

also if i would do this i would make it so when you open your trunk it opens on its own fully. so you hit the remote and it fully opens and speakers auto come on with the pressure switch

as far as polks i have polks and they are GREAT for the PRICE and there if the are free fuck it put them in there. you can always go back and change them later if you feel you want more

I think this is a wonderful idea! Anyone you are smuggling or storing in the trunk will be most appreciative. If you want to have some fun, pipe in some screams and rustling sounds back there next time you get pulled over.

i disagree with neibur3, do it dont trip on the added weight to the trunk lid. im sure your trunk lid will pop right up no prob. and if it doesnt..... i got you covered! check this out.

sweet huh? just imagine those two blue barrels being two 20" monitors. you'll even be able to watch music videos out of the trunk. nnnnnoooooice!

As much fun as it's been, I hope we haven't scared the OP off completely. The people posting may not like the idea, but I'd still like to see pictures of it when he's done (He is still doing it, right?).

I think it's a cool idea, free set of speakers and will do something different.

OP, are you going to have a switch to switch back to your interior pics??!?

Also, I doubt it'll pop open anymore (trunk) mine won't pop with VERY minor dampening added.
