Hands free link problem
Hands free link problem
OK so i have a little problem with my Hands Free Link System on my 06 TL. I have had so many phones paired up with it that wont hold anymore. I try to delete a phone an it goes all the way to where you say "okay" to continue deleting. Only problem there is when i say "okay" it loops back to the beginning and wont delete the phone. I had someone tell me that i should just clear the system, so i tried it and guess what the same thing happened. It would get all the way to where it asks you to say "okay" to continue, and i say it and then it starts all over. So my question is has anyone else had this problem and if so were you able to fix it???
Yes.
The dealer replaced my HFL module. The part was going to cost $600 plus labor. It's in the overhead console.
But Acura ate it. I was past my warranty time wise but still under on miles and I had reported the problem a while ago. There is a Technical Service Bulletin since some of the early modules went bad on the 2004-5s.
Suck up to your dealer if you are over warranty. Ask them to ask Acura to do it since you are a good customer. Remind them of the TSB. At the end of that TSB it says that if the customer is past warranty, they will look at each case and consider covering it as a "good will" gesture.

has anyone tried just unplugging the BT module in the overhead console there... and letting the static memory clear out that way .. then try re-plugging it in... that console is not that hard to get at .. ???

Peter,
I did essentially the same by disconnecting the battery several times to reset the HFL when it locked up in the pairing mode.
That was successful in resetting and unlocking everything. But, still it would not pair.
Another symptom was when I tried to edit the phone book. When I asked it to list the names in the phone book, it said "Phone Book is Empty".
When I tried to add a contact to the phone book, it said, "Phone Book is Full".
It was messed up big time.
Disconnecting the battery did not change that.

you guys have to use a completely different NAME when pairing a new phone... it worked for me...
Basically when the system asks you to name the phone you're trying to pair... use a completely different name (something not previously used)....

I've encountered the same problems with my 04 TL and am still looking for a solution. My phone will not pair. I can not get the system to delete any phones. When I try to pair a phone, or clear the system, it locks up and the only way I've been able to unlcok is by disconnecting the battery.
Acura said the HFL needs to be replaced, but quoted me $1,200. I'm desperate and trying all other options I can think of as I don't think I'll pony up that much coin to fix it.
