For those who are using the Grom Audio, are any of you guys experiencing trouble with connecting your tablet even after its already sync? For example, my Galaxy Tab 2 is sync, but whenever I get in the car and turn the key there are times it syncs right away and plays my music, takes awhile to sync and play my music, or it wont sync at all. When it doesnt sync at all, I check the tablet's BT and it states connecting to Grom. Stays like that for a long time; so I turn off BT and turn it back on and then hit play on the tablet and it works. Advice please?
I just installed my Grom BT3 unit running the CDC firmware. I decided not to go the SAT route because I saw more problems with that version. The unit for the most part works great but the one problem I have is that sometimes the music cuts in and out. I'm not sure what's causing it but it's annoying. It's almost like there is some kind of interference, but for the life of me can't figure it out. I plan on contacting Grom this week but I'm sure they'll tell me it's my fault. Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, were you able to resolve it?
Kind of glad to hear I am not the only one, but sucks that everyone on here are having issues. I have emailed them and waiting on response. If this continues, I might try the isimple:

I just got done talking with GROM and they told me to move my unit. They said that the electronics may be interfering... I don't think I'm going to go through removing the whole radio just to move it, I think I'll just live with the occasional audio drop. BTW, their live chat customer service is terrible.
I would have gone the iSimple route but I read that it doesn't work with the Type S.

Not yet. I'm going to try the delete and re-sync of my device to see if that works. It's weird because it will work for a long time and then all of a sudden drop a few times and then stream with no interruptions. I'll keep you guys posted though.

Yup, I deal with this regularly. It's frustrating. My device will randomly pause at times as well. I know it's the Grom unit because I never have these issues with other BT devices.
Glad I'm not the only one with this issue... I've tried re-syncing and resetting everything but no change...I really don't feel like pulling my stereo out again and messing with it, so I guess I'll have to live with it. I've noticed it does it all the time when I'm at home and sometimes randomly while driving.
If mine would auto play and sync correctly then I would be fine with it. I am not experiencing issues like you guys; hope you find a solution or if I come across something I will relay the message. I am going to look into the Isimple and see if the issues are for Navi users (what I read are from them) and try them out.
I bought some mu metal while collecting pieces for this project awhile back. I am wondering if you are experiencing static or low-frequency magnetic fields.......since IIRC the instructions stated to place the unit somewhere not to close to the head unit.
Reference
Mu-metal is a nickel-iron alloy, composed of approximately 77% nickel, 16% iron, 5% copper and 2% chromium or molybdenum, that is notable for its high magnetic permeability. The high permeability makes mu-metal useful for shielding against static or low-frequency magnetic fields.

My GROM AND2 unit is mounted between the stereo and the left "swing arm tab thingy" of the glove box. The USB and RCA inputs can be reached by just squeezing the glove box tabs to fully open the glove box as if you're changing your cabin filter. TFG!
No feedback, whining, static of any kind except when the whole unit crashes / freezes and then refuses to connect or play till I reconnect my phone, open the trunk Nav DVD tray door and, or restart the car!
Otherwise the only big issue (now) is the lousy volume. When it's working properly I keep the volume under 7 and can still vibrate the factory sub. When it's not I can crank the volume to 38 and can still easily talk to and be heard by elderly passengers.
I've gone back to firmware v54 since v57 (mailed to me by GROM) seems to have caused the unit to lose the "USB accessory attached" link and convinced it to think I have an iPod attached instead of my Android phone.

GROM user, issues plenty
I didnt want the BT version, hardwired is the best audio/signal as far as Im concenred... so I got the USB3 unit.
Started out supporting my older grey screen iPod, first (4G?) color screen iPod, the Ipod Air, and the Samsung Galaxy 10.1
As firmwares came out it killed each one off until only the Air is still supported.
THE GROM PROBLEMS have me scared its wrecking the circuits inside the 04 Canadian TL base w/Nav 5 sp Auto tranny Central Console column...
Navi locks up more and more I use the GROM (the USB3 unit plugs direct into the UNUSED ((no XM in Canada in 04)) XM socket in back of radio unit...
I mean locks up TOTAL.
No respnose to buttons to change away to FM and back (GROM recomm. reset/clear/ troubleshoot method, and for changing to AUX mode, but I use only USB). Cant turn off radio unit, cant change audio modes to anything, no audio plays, total freeze out. Have to pull battery cable for half an hour OR unplug the GROM XM wire harness and drive around for a day with a couple engine on/off cycles before plugging GROM back in and regaining button functions.
Flaky firmware updating too, sometimes it WORKS soemtimes you CANT TELL if its updated the GROM.
Spent a day with battery unplugged after yesterdays MESS and lock out again, not sure when or if I want to plug the GROM back in. I dont care any more if they are 'proud' they fake the XM socket and circuits into thinking the GROM unit is an XM module, it seems to be causing a hell inside the console.

Shoot, dont know how to edit my earlier post:
Have the same flush of self reboots of GROM (thats what I call it; the voice says "USB" or AUX after the self restart takes place) in a flurry of reboots suddenly, then works fine for who knows how many weeks, I didnt count. She sometimes says "AUX" and has set itself to that mode, I sure didnt choose it. Seems a common GROM circuit problem more than ACURA prob.
MOUNT location in my TL, I taped it to the topside of the flop panel near the base of the steering column on driver side (out of sight, 'inside' if you prefer that description)... far enough away from electronics and the fuse box, nicely in between, nice use of the length of harness supplied... I run the USB cable to just right of driver knee, co clipped with panel poppet that holds THAT panel in place. Cork insulated all mounts (great for screw attaching as well)
The battery drain common to 04 TLs also makes the prob worse with such problems, reveals FASTER when GROM attached (it charges via USB too so theres prob a parasite drain add on right there). Seat and mirror and NAV probs while GROM drain is attached happens more often, calls for smart charger connect every couple months which helps (is brand new EverReady AGM battery...)

update all these years later
I got the HON1U3 for my Canadian 04 TL, since I was GOING TO TRY to get the six cds of prev. owner out of the 6-DVD player unit, may as well get AUX audio in after taking the bloody cabin virtually apart to get behind the head unit.
Didnt get the discs out, tiny springs everywhere and a huge skill needed seems, found out if you screw around with the NAV or dont finish the job the same day, you drive around with nothing. No enviro or audio or NAV nothing. Central console FOR ME when I had gotten only part way done was zero function
Clock bug everyone has came, got used to years of off clock display.
But audio was delicious
The GROM is buggy as heal, needs unplugging every now and then as it freezes center column (prob internal buffer full?), so made it where I can do thatwithout groping around behind the tiny space of radio.
Clock 'fixed itself' early Feb 2022... or fixed and broke others.
IT KILLED DVD AND CASSETTE PLAY buttons when GROM box is not plugged in. (uses SAT port to play digital music to head unit)
It kills all NAV and screen access IF MY GROM is plugged in.
Nothing works.
I use the DVD button to trigger my Grom US3 via the SAT/AUX (actually the DVD button on Canadian TLs)
So it wont do the GROM and im pzzed.
i see nothing from GROM about our 'older GROM units' getting an update.
I hope to find other GROM unit users and know if their 04 TL experience is the same
I was willing to ignore the stupid off time HONDA CAUSED problem to have my GROM working pure digital music, more than having accurate time. BOTH WOULDVE BEEN NICE but given no choice, you now know my preference...
