Getting A New Sound System , Need Help

I went to Bestbuy today and checked at a single 12" Rockford Fostgate Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer with Polypropylene Cone , they are asking $259.99 for it. Went on ebay just ordered it today for $158.00 brand new with shipping. Capable of handling 1000 watts (peak) and 500 watts RMS (continuous); injection-molded polypropylene cone with thermoplastic foam surround.

Rockford Fosgate 600W Class AB Bridgeable 2-Channel Tri-Mode Amplifier with Selectable Crossover goes for $149.99

Max power per channel: 600W @ 4 ohms, bridged

*200W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged
*50W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 4 ohms
*100W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 2 ohms
*Selectable 40-400Hz high-pass/low-pass/full-range crossover
Is this amp enough power to power sub. I want the sub to knock hard, would I need a stronger amp or is this good enough.

The box goes for $119.99. Is this sub very reliable and put out good bass. I want it to knock where people outside can hear it too, hehe.

I found a Alpine 900W MOSFET Class D Mono Digital Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover

900W peak output @ 2 ohms, 14.4V

400W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 2 ohms, 12V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD

250W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, 12V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD

600W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 2 ohms, 14.4V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD

for $233.33 not a bad deal because Bestbuy has it for $400.00. Is this amp sufficient enough for the Roskford Fosgate subwoofer I'm getting? Thanks for your guys input.

One more thing I have a Navigation system. Will I need anything special for my amp/sub hook-up? I read somewhere on here that the technicians will try and charge $100.00 + for installation because of Nav, but its B.S. someone said.

If your only goal is to make enough thump to be heard outside the car, then you're barking up the right tree. The sound quality will likely suck hard, but it doesn't sound like that's a concern.

Yes, those amps will drive that woofer just fine.

What you mean the quality of my sound? I will be able to control the ammount of bass from my Navigation system though. I listen to hip/hop, r and b, techno, and rock and roll. I know rock & roll doesn't have bass but I am able to adjust the bass.

there's a difference between spl and sq (sound pressure level and sound quality respectively). spl pretty much refers to how hard it bumps..although without a good ported box you will probably be sacrificing a good amount of sq. i dunno much about the rockford fosgates..but i do know the kinda box u get has a lot to do with how good your sub will sound. i have an RE 12 inch with a huge ass ABC box..so i pretty much have the best of both worlds. u should do more research on that.

I'm refering to relative accuracy of the sound vs. just plain loudness. It's easy to create hard-hitting bass with giant woofers in smaller boxes that weren't built specifically for those woofers, but it's likely to have pretty high distortion and the odds of being able to discern more than just one note from the bass is virtually nil. Such setups tend to just boom at a single frequency while good quality systems are able to play all bass notes at equal loudness ("flat response").

Much of rock and roll has bass that needs to be reproduced just as accurately as with the other genres you list. It's true that those other genres are more known for their bass, but they would all benefit from a system that's been designed to do more than just rattle the screws out of your license plate frame.

Talk to a local shop about having them build you a custom enclosure that's designed for your specific woofer. Better yet, let them spec the whole system. You'll spend more, but you'll be far, far more pleased with the results.

I found a Kenwood amp 2ch amp

170 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (250 watts x 2 at 2 ohms)
500 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
wired remote control for bass boost and low-pass filter
1000w peak power

Is this amp sufficient for the Rockford Fosgate Sub i'm getting?

This amp is 119.00 much cheaper than my previous findings.
