Finally installed Dom's Navi converter in SoCal

I finally got around to having Dom's Navi converter and a DVD player installed this weekend. I am so pleased with the results. The player I bought also supports JPEG Photo DVD's, so now I can have a permanent slide show too.

I had Al&Ed's Autosound do the install (They are in Brea, CA)

I worked with Joe Almanza. I am very pleased with the install, the price ($200), and the time it took (2.5 hours).

They put an in-line FM modulator in lieu of tapping into the XM aux.

My 2 year old is so happy to be watching Sesame Street in my car!

Here is the total cost for the navi install:

Navi converter box: $125
DVD/CD/MP3/JPEG player from Buy.com (Called PowerAcoustic): $85
In-line FM modulator (supplied by vendor) $69
Install: $200

Total out = less than $500.

The DVD player supports two additional video/audio input sources too! (One on front and one on back)

I have one of those battery operated joysticks that plays old arcade games that I plug into the front of the player to show off. It is great amusing passengers with Pac Man, Dig Dug, etc.

My only regret is not splitting the aux signal. Sometimes there is slight static on the audio.

Most of the time it is totally acceptable. Of course, I usually only have Sesame Street playing, so it really isn't a good test.

Wouldnt the Soundgate Aux3 be a good replacement to the FM modulator? Use the AUX for DVD audio?

It probably would. I am just afraid to splice into pre-existing XM audio lines, so an FM mod is the only solution for me.

Where did you install the DVD player?
