Fact Alarm and Key Disarm

I have two factory black keys, not valet keys and one keyfob. If the alarm is activated by the fob and I try to unlock the car with either key rather than the fob, the alarm sounds. Is this normal? The car is at the dealer now having other work done on it but I mentioned this issue to the service advisor and he said you had to disarm with the fob first. My previous TL was not like this. I was curious if someone with a 3rd gen could go try this and confirm my thoughts. Thanks!

If the alarm is sounding and you put the key in the door and turn it, it should disarm. Additionally, simply putting the key in the door of an armed car should not set the alarm off. Instead, it should disarm it.

I'm no expert on this, but the immobilizer chip in the key might need to be programmed or something.

The service advisor is definitely incorrect.
