I use Professional SMAART measurement system with Earthworks M30 microphone and a Presonus Firebox interface for frequency and impedance measurements.
I use software called lspCAD for passive crossover design and simulation.

I also use digital crossover processing software called Frequency Allocator that I designed and offer for sale. A few of my customers are even running it on carputers for their speaker processing. I don't have a carputer, but would like to try one one of these days.

So when I walk in and ask the Rockford dealer what he has to tune my 360.2, the installer should be able to show me his tuning program or is the bluetooth PC interface the actual tuning software?

That would apply in ideal situations, but...

The key words here are "well designed and balanced," both of which the system in the TL are not. Changing the tweeters or door speakers will most likely improve the situation no matter what brand/model is chosen.

Sometimes you don't need fancy equipment to determine whether something is better. You've got ears. If it sounds better to you, then it's better.

However, I totally understand where you're coming from. Ideally, someone with an RTA would be adjusting your 31 band EQ, but most people aren't going to go that far. Trying different speakers and tweeters is a perfectly OK thing to do in most car stereo situations.

Actually, here's what I wish for someday.

So while a new tweeter might sound louder or brighter than the old one, and therefore "better", you almost certainly made the system worse- less true to the music.

Be really careful when messing with audio components. Try to find someone with audio measuring equipment and knowledge how to use it to confirm that you are indeed improving things when modding.
