Easier way to make calls with HFL?
I have an iphone 5 on ATT, before that I had a LG G2X on T Mobile. On both phones, if I initiate a call on my phone, I cant transfer the call to my car audio until a few seconds after the party answers... Am I doing something wrong? There has got to be a better way. Perhaps if I start the call on with my car (which is a pain in the ass IMO), I can get around this problem?
When someone calls me it works great. But yeah thanks in advance!

The HFL will not transfer a call until the phone connects with the other number.
When dialing a number with the phone that is not in the car's HFL, I dial and hang up before it rings. Then I say "redial" using the HFL to avoid the lag inherent in using the "transfer" command.
Otherwise, spoken input-- voice dialing-- for the destination number using the HFL works quite well.

If OP calls certain numbers repeatedly, it'd be much easier to program them into the HFL for voice command.
One can also just hold the HFL call button down momentarily, without saying "yes," and the HFL will dial the number.
Ok guys the redial thing works great. It also is good with me saying the full number to call. However, I imported my phone book into the car, and it all shows up in info. When I say Call (NAME) it just says Call #8 or Call 513 or something crazy like that.

Finally found someone else that was annoyed with the fact that you cant make a call from your phone and have HFL automatically connected right away. My other cars with bluetooth dont do this ridiculousness. Its soooo annoying! no clue why they designed it that way and it makes calling a number that you dont have stored a royal pain in the ass. ugh Definately one of the things I dislike about my 3G.
I think you need to assign a voice tag/name to each imported number in the HFL before you can call using the name. This means XXX-XXX-XXXX needs to be assigned a voice tag/name like "Mom" through the HFL. Then you can say "call Mom" and the HFL will dial it.Check the HFL section in the owner's manual.
I know the 3G TL's arent brand new so that has something to do with it, but stinks you have to program each individual name to be able to call it through the HFL. For example in my new Jeep Overland you can call any name stored in your phone book and it recognizes it without ever programming anything in. Its very nice! Wish things could be updated so that the HFL system can work a little better, plus the voice recognition to make a call, is pretty poor. Atleast for me, but seems like more than 50% of the time when I say a name to call it comes back saying dial 000. Im like WTF

^^^ Yea, but you have to remember that this is 2007/2008 technology. In order for it to be upgraded, it might take an entire reprogram, which isn't going to happen.
Really guys, this is very simple.....just think of this as 2 separate phonebooks.
The first phonebook is the one with the HFL. To program, all I did was say the phone number and then say the name of the person assigned to that phone number. Not that difficult.
The second phonebook is the downloaded contacts from your smartphone. Just a few taps of the screen and you get the name you're looking for. Just touch the name and the phone number you've typed in, and you're dialing that person!
