Unfortunately, no. The player reads only DVD-A discs.

it will only work on the 07 tl+ as they have the capabilities to read them.

Unfortunately, this is incorrect. The 07+ TLs play MP3s burned on CDs only, not on DVDs. Very few MP3-CD players support MP3-DVDs.

Here is the exact quote from Acura Media Newsroom:

The system will not play DVD movies, DVD-V or DVD-R/RWs

Link

Of course, has anyone tried it? It might just work.

However, I checked the MDX info. It doesn't have the above phrase like our TL.

the point that this quote is making is that the HU cannot play movies. I can play burned DVD audio files on my TL, which use a dvd-r disk. As well, the link will only apply to 07+ tl's as they have capabilities to read mp3/wma files.

If that's really the case, then it's a fantastic news!

Do you know if DVD-RW will work for mp3's? If it does, I'll go buy some DVD-RW and test it out later!

Could you let us know if you have a chance to try the DVD-RW?

Thanks.

To my knowledge mp3/wma will only work on CD format, not any DVD format. I have also been told that mp3/wma on CD is limited to 255 tracks as well.

Seriously, if you even could dump over 2000 mp3s on a DVD just how on earth do you think you would navigate to track# 987 (for example)? 99 songs on DVD-A is bad enough to navigate.

Get an mp3 player with good menuing/foldering and playlist capability and stick in in the Aux jack you '07+ guys have. You'll never look back.

For the low quality of mp3/wma you can't beat a player (like an iPod) wired through the HU.

acutually you can navigate thru the dvd using a menu if you have a navi system on 07+ tl's. I do this in the MDX and the folders are easy to use.

Thanks for filling me in on that. Non-Nav cars would still have an issue.

I can confirm that my 07 MDX with nav plays mp3 DVDs(DVD+R). I tried putting the same DVD+R in my 07 TL-S and it spit it back out. I'm not sure if this is because the TL head unit doesn't like DVD+R media or if it doesn't like DVDs with mp3s on it.

Thanks for sharing before I bought a pack of DVD-R's.

Wow, somebody else on the forum with an 07 MDX and an 07 TL-S. Thanks for doing the testing on this.

Last time I checked the manual, this is correct for the '07 TLs. It's posted in the FAQ as well.

I believe the MDX may be running different hardware.

Yup, the only thing touching the Navi in the MDX does it get the screen dirty...
