DVD Audio Issues
So I have attempted to play several DVD-Audio discs in my 2005 TL.
I have tried an actual DVD-Audio retail disc; it simply flashes "FORMAT" and ejects the disc.
I have tried a DualDisc on the DVD side; it simply flashes "FORMAT" and ejects the disc.
I have tried burned discs with 5.1 audio; most flash "FORMAT" and eject the disc, only one actually plays fully. Some start playing a track then after 30 seconds play digital static; if the track is advanced it starts playing again for 30 seconds then the same digital static.
All the discs ive burned that are in a 2.0 format play ok.
Is there only a specific format that will play? I figured the retail dualdisc and dvd-a disc would play but neither do.
Is there something I am missing? Is there some type of setting or maybe a firmware update for the stereo that might fix this?

are you just burning files onto a dvd or using a dvd-a program such as Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo?

Yea, ive been burning with both cirlinca and adobemans software. Only some discs work; and no retail discs have worked (of course i've only tried 2)
Just wondering; there is a radio on craigslist near me from an '06. Is it possible to just swap that into my '05 or would something special need to be done?

Quick question: How are you burning 5.1 audio disks? I have an original and want 2 copies (one for car, one for home stereo) and don't want to buy a second one.
I ripped it without a problem and got the ISO file. But when I burn it (with Nero) and try it in the car it gives me the same "FORMAT" error and ejects it. Should I be using a different ripping or burning software? I'm using DVD+R disks if that makes a difference.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, it's flashed format and eject the dvd, for your information i convert the wave files from ac3 to 5.1 wav with 16 bit with belight software and drags all wave files into DVD-audio solo .
is there any guide i can follow it up, i read the help for solo dvd audio.
but unfortunately I couldn't make any dvd-a yet..... so please help

Keep Right Except to Pass
I would be very wary of DualDiscs. I've heard reports that they're a fraction of a millimetre thicker than regular CDs or DVD-As and that they do not always play properly.
With that said, make sure the DVD-Audio logo is present on your disc. The logo usually looks like this:

The word "AUDIO" must be present on a commercial disc. If it's not, it's probably not a real DVD-Audio disc and it probably won't play. A lot of DualDiscs are designed with DVD-VIDEO on one side and Red Book CD on the other. DVD-Video WILL NOT play in the TL.
Regarding burning your own DVD-As, I'd suggest looking at the various threads regarding Adobeman's software. He's given a lot of advice regarding some common problems people have had. I believe he also addressed which type of recordable DVDs to use. (IIRC, a lot of people have had serious problems using DVD+R discs and it's recommended that you stick to DVD-R for your TL-related projects.)
Some tips I've discovered on my own:
—Don't let Windows Vista rip the .WAV files for you. Use CDex or another commercial product. Vista's .WAV encoder seems to have some problems.
—If you need to convert .MP3s, use something like dbPoweramp or even iTunes. Adobeman's software will do it for you as a convenience, but I've found that occasionally it truncates the resulting .WAV.
—Don't use Windows to burn the .ISO files to the DVD-R. Use a commercial burning program (Roxio has worked fine for me).
—Make sure you finalize the burned disc.

So... the so called "DVD-Audio" discs I bought off ebay are definetly not DVD audio discs.
I popped them into my computer and the "AUDIO_TS" folder on the disc is empty.
So I decided to rip the audio from the dvd video section and reburn it using cirlinca... we will see how that goes.. What a pain in the ass.

Guys, the DualDiscs will not work in the TL. And...many of the DVD Audio discs come in a larger, different jewel box.
I've you're burning discs, it's a whole different thing....
