Down loading software (Navi owners only)

I imagine this is going to be in the wrong forum but wanted to make all the Navi owners aware of something if they didn't already know. I don't always go to the 'Navi' forum so I probably miss some valuable information.
Anyway, let me tell you my story.
I was planning a trip out of town yesterday. I haven't driven the TL in about a week or so but chose to drive it because my dad was going with me and wanted to hear some tunes on the stereo.
So I get up early in the morning and start the car. Upon starting it instead of the normal motions that the Navi screen shows it did something I thought to be kinda wierd. It had a bar graph going from one side of the screen to the other. On top of the graph it said 'Downloading new software'. I didn't, and still don't know exactly what it was doing. I haven't done anything with the CD player, the Navi disc player, or tickered with the PCM of car so I was a little worried. After a few minutes and the graph indicated the download was complete something else came on the screen. Looks like a telephone keypad and it asked me to 'enter code'. I had NO idea what code it was asking for. I turned car off and waited a couple of minutes and restarted and it immediately went back to that screen.
I pushed the AUDIO button and the radio did come on but the screen didn't change. I was pretty mad by now.
I then go inside and call Acura Roadside for assistance. After fumbling my way thru their horrible phone tree system, I finally got a human voice. I explained my problem and was told that she couldn't help but did give me another number to call of someone who probably could. I called that number only to get a recording saying the number couldn't be obtained from my area !!!
I call ACS again and get someone different. I re-explain my situation to this person and was told that the first number was wrong one. He said that he had different number but they didn't work on weekends. Just great. I explained that I was going out of town and needed my Navigation to work. He said that if I got lost to call them back and they would get me directions along the way or arrange for a hotel. I'm so mad I can't see straight by now.
Then a light bulb goes off in my head. I think to myself, I wonder if the code they are asking for is the radio code??? So I then go back out to the car and start it up. I then realize it shouldn't be that because the battery wasn't disconnected or anything. I find my card with my radio code on it and something else.....my Navi code. BINGO !!! I tap in the 4 #'s and I'm back in business. The screen then goes BLUEand the words 'Acquiring GPS location'*Move away from building*Keep engine running*Vehicle must remain stationary* This may take 10-15 minutes. After the time expired all is back to normal.
Hopefully this will help someone if it happens to them.
ACS wasn't much help. I would think that if this is a normal occurance, then Acura would inform them on what to say. Obviously not.

THat is a security thing in the stereo and nav. As said it happens when the battery is diconnected. However, you'd have had to punch in the code for stereo too. Dunno why your stereo worked and Navi did'nt. Please post if you find out something.

I'm guessing it reloaded the software off the Navi DVD-ROM because the non-volatile RAM had been wiped/corrupted.

I really wouldn't consider N. FL a cold climate.
