Thumbs up DIY-DVD player in armrest

all right there has been many kinda write ups but i feel they did not really go into detail thus showing you how to do it so here is my attempt

FOR THE DVD PLAYER, I USED THE MYRON DAVIS AD212 3/4 DIN IT FITS PERFECTLY

1. Remove arm rest,
a.pull clip on drivers side off, it is on the little metal part of the hinge
you have to dig for it
b. slide armrest to the right, (drivers side) and pull towards you
passenger side should pop out
c. do the same, slide to left and pull

NOW we have the armrest out

2. first unzip leather and pull it off (easy)

3. next pull out the cupholders:
this is done by using a butter knife and compressing the
tabs located on the top of the cup holders ie. the 2 red
circles

4. remove front trim piece:
4 tabs 2 on top 2 on bottom

5. Now remove black sleeve:
there are r tabs that secure it in place and that need to be
pulled down at the same time, i used 4 butter knives to pry
the tabs down and slowly pulled out the black sleeve this is
what your dvd player will sit in
http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570176/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570176/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

6. Open the sleeve by pressing the 3 tabs on each side (simple)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094032413/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094032413/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

7. next mark where your dvd player will sit and use to self tapping screws into the sides of the plastic to prevent your dvdplayer from sliding back, make sure its forward enough that its flush with the trim ring cause that's what holds it in place

http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570750/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570750/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094032785/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094032785/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

8. cut out a small notch for your wiring in sleeve and foam
http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094030935/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094030935/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094033111/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094033111/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

9. slide sleeve back in.MAKE SURE YOU PUT LEATHER ON FIRST CASE THE
BLACK FABRIC GOES AROUND THE SLEEVE

http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570426/http://www.flickr.com/photos/65898473@N04/6094570426/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/65898473@N04/, on Flickr

10. install dvd player slide in track

11. place trim ring on

12 reconnect armrest

and your done dvd player in armrest

I assume that if one would only want to connect to say two video screens instead of the navi screen, this would reduce the cost a lot. You would just need to find a way to tap power for the DVD player and then send a video signal to the two screens.

Meh not that much , the most expensive part of the install is the navtool interface to jum the video signal from the navi. i picked mine up on ebay for 240
and im having a hard time finding a nice set of screens for under 200, but i want 7 inc nice screens lol with no buttons on them lol
