Direct Route vs. Easy Route on Navigation

What's the difference b/w the 2? I don't have access to the manual to check.

Thanks!

In theory, direct will route you over more local roads. In practice, I've seen more local roads occasionally show up when using "easy".

Navigations systems keep in mind the types of roads and their general speed limits to route you to your destination to give you different options.

Easy will bring you there using the more major roads and highways. Making the trip "easier" and maybe faster. Direct brings you there in the shortest possible distance no matter what kind of road the route needs to take.

I also thought that Easy routes you with fewer turns, if possible, than the other methods.

Depending on what the Alpine nav engineers were designing the disc that we use for- like in a portable unit that cars besides acura would use

My Magellan portable- Easy Route picks the least amount of sharp turns and turns overall- it is intended for those pulling a trailer who want the least hassle.
