Angry difference in 07 and 04 TL ELS Surround Sound System?

I had a 07 loaner car yesterday because my whole radio and cd player stopped working. When i had the loaner car i noticed the sound system in the 07 was totally different from the 04. Is there a big difference? Is it the same system? both cars say ELS surround sound system. My shit sounds like a honda civic. When i turn the subwoofer off and +6 i don't notice a different in sound at all..the dealer didn't replace the subwoofer. he said he just added something to stop the rattle. he said it's a known problem. is this true?

As far as hardware goes, they got few minor difference here and there. As far as sound goes, they're about the same. The newer model Type S HU gets ANC (active noise cancellation). If you're interested in the difference check out my other thread where I dissected the radio HU... https://acurazine.com/forums/moderators-only-20/new-setup-160807/

Question 04 and 07 sound system

i just want to basically know if the service guy at the dealership is bullshitting me for the simple reason that he doesn't want to fix it. is my 04 sound system supposed to sound like the 07? cause it doesn't right now and there's a huge difference. i should say there's a big difference in the speakers...its sounds like a stock kia spectra or something.

um.... that's kinda weire they should sound about the same.... next time you go to the dealer, set it side by side with other similar year TLs and play the same thing see how that came out.... don't try to compare it to the 07 or the type S.... otherwise, they'll just tell you to upgrade

My factory sub makes a big difference between off and +6. If you're not hearing anything, have them verify your sub is working properly.

Make sure they didn't just unplug the sub to "fix" the problem. It happens sometime. My friend had a mechanic fix her leaking heater core during the summer. When winter came around and she had no heat I agreed to fix it for her. To my surprise, there was no heater core in the car.
