Was wondering if the TL Gurus could help me out with this. Is there a difference between the NAV used in 04 and the NAV used in 06 TL. I mean like the hard drive and stuff, since I am driving a loaner 06 TSX with Nav and the Nav responds faster than my 04TL. For example when I move around in the map using the joystick in my 04TL, it takes about a second for the map to load on the screen, when I move from the current location. I did not experience this in the 06 TSX, the map just keeps loading and moving without any hesitation. Was wondering if this was an issue with my Nav. Any help would be appreciated.

There's not a big difference other than upgraded navi DVDs. Both units use DVDs, not hard drives.

 

You think if I get the updated DVD, it will recitfy my issue with slow response on map updating on the screen.

 

I believe the '06 TSX uses a new dvd system (faster DVD drive) than the '04-'06 TL. They use the 4.X version navi DVDs while we use the 3.X versions, but this has changed with the release of the '07 TL which now uses the 4.X DVD.

So simple answer: no upgrading the disc will not change the speed. You'll have better luck upgrading the DVD-Rom to the newer '07 drive (along with other upgrades to make everything complete), which seems to be $$.

BTW: Navi between '04-'06 TL is pretty much the same.

Just got an 04 TL. Is it possible to borrow an updated DVD for the navi.......so that I can update my navi system.
