Did you guys know this?

Even before i got my TL, i was made to understand that the cd player would not play any CD-RW or CD-R, but the other day my wife was able to play a recorded cd.
I didn't believe until i tried it, i popped in all the CD-R and RWs i have and they all played like regular cds. Maybe you guys already know this but was i missing something here?

I was indeed missing something and boy, i tell you-some car dealer salesmen will sure issue some misleading information. I thought they are required to know the ins and outs of their products.

The ONLY definite "ins and outs" a dealer/salesman knows, is how to give it to a potential buyer up the a$$!

(sorry...couldn't resist)

The salesman probably said this as a CYA in case you put one in there and it didn't work. Then you wouldn't be able to come back and claim he said ALL CD-Rs would work. I think most CD players these days say they play CD-Rs and CD-RWs but they have some disclaimer that states that some brands, burning methods, etc might not work.

no reason to worry about RWs. RWs are like 3 bucks a disc. R is 30 cents a disc. I can't use RW after about 10 writes because it gets scratched so bad. It's better to write on CDR
