Dice unit display question - old XM displays
Dice unit display question - old XM displays
First post!! Guess I have been lurking around long enough.
I recently purchased and installed the Dice R3 unit. Install went fine using the auxcableinstall.pdf that is listed in the audio FAQ.
The controller box switch settings are on on and off off -- should be set up for xm emulation and locked ipod so that I can receive text on my display, which is a non-nav 2005 by the way.
When I hit a numbered button to change between song, playlist, artist modes I first get information about xm radio channels on the display. it works something like this... (button press), display - "XM 1-1 (also shows some additional numerical station info)", (wait one second), display - "dice", (wait one second), display - "playlist (or whatever corresponding mode goes with that particular preset button)".
Sorry this description is so confusing. That's probably about the best I can do without making a video (maybe that would be a good idea). I didn't see anywhere in the manual where it describes this as normal operation, and everyone that installs this unit has been pretty pleased with it from what I can tell.
When I first did the install, I had forgotten to disconnect the battery lead, and forget to disconnect the xm tuner. last night, I went back and disconnected the battery (it was disconnected long enough that I had to put in the security code on the HU) and completely removed the xm tuner from the trunk (the small pioneer box inside the quarter panel with two connectors running to it-right?). after this was all done, I reconnected the battery, and put in the security code. There was no change in the display operation at all. it is still the same as I described above. If this is normal, then it is irritating for me, but I guess I can live with it.
Anyone got any clues???
p.s. - I didn't disconnect/reconnect the controller box because I mounted it under the HU and I can't get to it now... it took less time to disconnect the battery from the car and wait. That should accomplish the same thing correct?

Wow... What a way to start my forum experience.
I know it wasn't a post about anything interesting like ronjon's or LED interior lights or anything, but I thought maybe someone might be able to help me out with some previous experience.
No one has had this issue?

I think you have to change your display mode. Check the Dice manual again. But it will display DICE on the screen as the channel. You may also want to change the scrolling mode.
