"Dial" vs "Call"

When I speak a phone number to the TL (i.e. 555-1212) it responds. "Say call or dial".

I am just curious. Is there any difference between "call" and "dial"? Seems like an unecessary choice

I can't see the difference. Either command places the call.

Either command works. Permits the user to respond more naturally by giving them the option.

I use call because it seems to "hear" that term more often correctly for some reason.

Thats probably cause, dial is almost similar to redial

I just hold the call HFL button down and that places the call too. Of course you have to wait for the car to read you back the entire number, but then it places the call.

Is there any way to turn off the repeat feature wher the car repeats the commands you give it, and it simply performs the command? That would be SWEET!!

I've found that if I do this, it hangs up after the first ring for no apparent reason. It works find to "send" a number after I'm connected (like for voicemail), but not when I first dial a number. This is with a v710.

You can just interrupt the system in the middle of that and say call/dial.

I never wait for it torepeat the entire number. I just glance at the MID to make sure it got the number correct and interrupt the readback by saying call. I'm rude.

the voice system is so unpredictable. sometimes she knows what I'm saying and sometimes she just seems so stoned. she's like "pardon?"....."please repeat"..."available calling options are..."

JUST DIAL THE FUCKING NUMBER YOU CRAZY BROAD!!!

There I am screaming at her as loud as I can, and still she says "pardon"

Glad to hear I'm not the only one screaming at her as she tries to understand me... VERY frustrating!

She's just like a four year old .. the more you yell the less she hears .. if you speak softly and deliberately she's more likely to hear what you say.

The Call or Dial works for me if the number is already programmed, but if I'm spitting digits and start with either call or dial, it always throws a zero in as the first number ... drives me nuts!!!!
