Dashboard video camera

I'm looking to buy a dashboard video camera. I've looked through many different ones online and I just wanted to see if you guys can recommend one that isn't too expensive. I'm also looking for something that I can mount to the windshield instead of the dashboard. Thanks

I'll second that question. I've bought 3 BlackVues. The 1st one died within a month. The other two are going strong (4 months). Updating the software and formatting is a pain in the ass. Customer service is all forum based. Could be a good product if it were made by a name brand manufacture.

I looked at cameras recently and like the one in the link below. It's less of a smash-and-grab target, as it's not obvious from a distance that there is a camera there. It also has the G sensor.

I didn't end up buying it, as I'm really looking for a system that has at least two cameras, front and back firing, and that goes into stanby (does not draw much power) when the car is off, but "wakes" and records if there is an impact. For example, if someone hits your parked car then takes off -I want the license plate recorded. If you scroll down to customer reviews, click on comments of the first review (the one with video), you can see my discussion with the product rep

The main reason why I wanted to get a camera is to just record while I drive. Sometimes things happen and you wish you had a camera ready. I know its a pretty stupid reason and the more and more I think about it I'm losing interest lol. But in any case this is the one i was looking at

640x480 resolution -the camera is nice and small, and two cameras is also great, but that resolution is going to be problematic getting license plates.

I'm cheap, I just put my iPhone in the belt clip and attach it to the passenger-side sun visor when I want to shoot video.
