Guys, could you give me some advice, please.
Touchscreen has been cracked by accident. LCD is not damaged at all so I still can see a great picture, no dark spots, no flowing colors, I can control everything with the knob and buttons, but touchscreen doesn't work (obviously) as I have a crack radiating from the impact point in a star like shape.
Dealership doesn't replace only touchscreen and offers to replace the whole navi system for $2200+tax which is ridiculous taking in consideration that my navi works and worked fine. I've checked on the other forum-somebody said it's possible to replace only touchscreen, but I have to look for it on internet. I've been searching for something like that for several days and still didn't find anything. Could you recommend what is the best option for me right now and where and how I should fix it? Can you recommend some place?
(just in case: I live in NYC area).

Looks like both of you might consider making comprehensive insurance claims.

 

try to find a used one or just the same screen from another car.

 

Insurance +2.

 

Ebay has used screens all of the time. I was bidding on one and it sold for around $500.00.

 

check the junkyards, you can score a great deal there. Ebay is good to.

 

Since he unit is made my Alpine, I would check with them.

Could you also state what exactly I should look for on ebay? As when I search for Acura TL display unit the only thing I'm getting is '03 unit or unit for RL. There's nothing coming up for 07 TL. Also, I'm not sure if '07 unit can be replaced by 04-06 units? Is it true? (I know they're all different part #'s, but they could be interchangeable).
I will try junk yard option too, but I could find it on Ebay, it would be even better. The comprehensive insurance option will be $1K for me plus 3 -5 years of paying higher premium because of the insurance claim I've maid. So I would rather pay $1K for the unit (if that is the only best price I could find) and install it (whatever labor could cost), then paying extra for my premiums for several years.

I checked the new parts listing and they did change the part number from 06 to 07 so there may be a difference. If that's the case, you might have trouble finding one on ebay.

I also checked ebay and there are no 3G displays up for bid at the moment.

A junkyard might be your only option aside from new. New online is $1980.60.
