I have read up on all the faq's, and comparison threads, but still haven't found a definite answer.
I've got a 05 navi and would like to integrate my ipod.
After a lot of reading, I don't want my ipod locked out, so is there anyway I can get IPOD control with steering wheel controls at the same time? I don't care about text since I know what is on my ipod, and which option would be the cheapest?

(not important, just wondering, I am still just looking at control on my IPOD and the steering wheel at the same time. Text doesn't have to be displayed through XM)

i'm new here, but i've been lurking around for a month or two figuring out different things i want to do to my tl once i get it. from my understanding, you can't have steering wheel controls and control from the ipod at the same time. the closest i've seen is the peripheral pxamg isimple unit that allows integration (steering wheel controls), then you can flip over to another aux input on your radio and use your ipod to control.

as for video, you're going to need something like dom's nav2go box or navtool. they offer plug n play so you don't have splice into the factory nav harness.

heres what i'm planning on my tl:
- i have a 30gb ipod video that i'm gonna integrate with the isimple. i'm gonna tuck it away in my center console and not worry (like having a hard drive in the car).
- i have a 2nd gen ipod touch that i'm gonna mount up front on the dash with a proclip mount and have audio going through the aux input of the isimple, and video out to dom's box.

as for video output and integration, i haven't seen an all-in-one unit made for that.

Is there a product out there that will just charge my ipod as well as play the audio.
Controlling through the IPOD is the biggest thing, since it would be easier as apposed to the slow nav. browsing

 

what ipod do you have? you could use the peripheral is76 (http://www.peripheralelectronics.com...?ProductID=386) ($30 at amazon) in conjunction with some sort of auxiliary input adapter for the tl. i don't know what the cheapest option is, but there a few solutions to convert your xm input into an auxiliary input. that is76 should cover all of your bases because it can charge all ipods (even iphones and 2nd gen touches). it even gives you the option for video output later on, too, if you decide to do that.

yea I've been searching all through the forums for the past couple of days. Tons of info!!

For those with the IPOD integrated through XM and Navi, is it a pain to get through artists? Do the advantages outweigh the dis?

 

From personal experience, I have been able to use my Ipod controls as well as control the songs from steering wheel. I got the Peripheral PXAMG unit (Isimple).

I know this to be true becuase my girlfriend was changing songs on the ipod and kept skipping a song that i Like, but I clicked back on the steering wheel and to my surprise it worked...though you will not have any name display.

 

Obtain 4 relays all of them need to be 5 pole. the basic bosh 12 volt. it is the cheapest way. yes it does work.
