CD Player Failed
Hi Everyone,
I had posted before about my CD player failing: It does not play, the CD goes in, but nothing. The track number displays, but there is no sound and after about 60 seconds the CD self ejects.
Anyone else have this problem???
Now don't be shy......
I know that alot of people are experiencing this because the Acura dealer where I purchased by Timing Belt parts from says that he is receiving alot of requests for CD players for the 3RD Gen Acura TL.
Anyone have a fix???
Has anyone taken the unit apart???
These replacement units are pretty expensive and you can't go after-market on this so does anyone have a more economical solution?
Thanks for your input,

There have been a few random instances where when I eject a disc and put a new one in it will hold it in there for about 20 seconds and then spit it back out like it couldn't read it. But then I would put the disc back in and it would read it.. dunno

Old news. This is common with the CD units. This happened to my TL not even a week after I bought the car. The symptoms are the exact same.
It's just a bad CD unit. You need to buy a new audio head unit and replace it. There's no way to fix it. Trust me, I looked into trying to fix it because a poor college student, I didn't want to spend money on a new one if I could fix it.

If this is so common perhaps there is a fix that doesn't involve the replacement of the entire unit.

I was searching on the forums while I was pretending to pay attention in my class this afternoon and I stumbled upon this problem but for the previous generation TL's.
Apparently some guy took the CD unit apart and messed with it and it was all fixed for him.
I'll try to find the link again, but I'm not sure if the procedure would work the same since the CD units are different, even if it is just aesthetically. I'd be personally quite scared of messing with the CD unit...but then again, if the CD player is dead then it doesn't matter lol.
I asked the dealer about this a few months ago and they told me it would cost me $400 to get a new one. Not to mention labor if I have them install it (heck no, I know how to do it myself).
