Cannot delete paired phones from HFL

My HFL has been working fine on my 04 TL up until last week, when I tried to pair a new phone. THe system says that I have 6 phones paired and must delete 1 before I can pair a new one. SO I go into phone setup and delete a phone, the system says that it was successfull, but the phone is still there. I have also gone into Phone setup and done a successfull "clear", but all 6 phones still remain after that as well. I have also pulled fuse #6, and #7, but when it comes back up, all the phones are still there. The only thing I havent done is pulled the battery cables.

Has anyone had this problem before? The car is well out of warranty and I am not spending crazy money to replace the HFL module.

thanks

I wanted to delete some old ones, and the process was annoying. It'll ask which phone you'd like to delete, so you say the name. It'll confirm the spoken name, and you confirm with "Yes". It then warns you about the deletion, and you confirm with "Ok".

At first I couldn't understand why the phone from the last owner was in there, as I thought I had deleted it when I got the car. Apparently, sometimes when you say "Ok", it doesn't register it as such, and doesn't delete the phone.

You may have to do "list phones" to hear which phones are paired. Then delete them one by one. Make sure you articulate the "Ok" confirmation step very clearly, and you should be able to get all of the stored phones cleared out within a few minutes.

Cannot delete paired phones from hfl

Hmm, Ill have to try that. I wonder if thats the same issue when I tried the system clear command. I have tried several times, but it doesnt delete anything. Also when it says that everything has been deleted, there is knd of a stutter in the voice when she says it, weird. Almost like if you are using a Voice over IP phone and you have internet congestion etc., the voice will be gargled for a slit sec.

Still having problems. Seems I was able to delete a couple phones. When I go into Phone Setup, and say "list" it only lists 4 paired phones. But when I go back into Phone setup, and try to pair the phone, it still says that I have 6 phones paired, and will not let me pair the phone. I tried the system "clear" again, trying to anunciate "OK" very clearly, it said that it was successfull, but it didnt erase anything, the phones are still there.

The system clear won't delete the phones... you need to delete them one by one.

Yes, I did that already and I was able to delete 2 phones somehow. WHen I go into Phone setup and do a "list" command it lists only 4 paired phones. But When I go into phone setup and try to pair my new phone, it says that I have 6 already paired and will not let me continue.

Just tried again to delete phones..I deleted like 4 of them, and it said it was successfull. But a few minutes later, they show back up in the paired phone list. I removed fuses 6 and 7, then replaced them. The HFL said "Booting Up" for several minutes. WHen I get back into it, all the phones I deleted are still there, and I cannot pair anything. SOmething is hosed. I wish there was some kind of factory reset for the HFL, nothing seems to work. The system clear doesnt do anything either

Same problem for me as well, doesn't seem like anyone has gotten it fixed. I was going to replace the unit itself, but the cost of the part is $800 for the HFL replacement part for the 2004. All of the other model year replacements are about $200. I've tried to see if anyone has put in the 2005 part into the 2004, but no one has confirmed it'll work and I've been told I can't return the part for a refund once ordered.

The HFL is really annoying. I might have a similar problem. When I try to pair a new phone, I get as far as "What name would you like to call this phone." When I say the name "Phone A" the system pauses for a second or two and then cancels out of the whole process. My phone however says it paired ok, but when I ask HFL to list phones, it says "no phones have been found". Ok, I start over. Again, I get to the same spot and again name it "Phone A". This time the stupid system says "The name you are trying to use is similar to "Phone A"". So it remembered my first attempt! Why didn't it list "Phone A" when I asked it to list all phones?

Eventually, after a few times (by then I've reached the name "Phone E"), it finally pairs. So my problem is:

1) Intermittently successfully pairs. I have no clue why it goes all the way through sometimes.
2) I know I have other phone names stored in the system because I always have to pick a new name so as to not conflict with a failed one I attempted earlier. However, I can't seem to delete these old names because the "list phone" command always shows up empty (or shows up with the last phone I successfully paired).

I don't want to attempt the system reset, because I think this it loose my address book.
