Canadian Nav. DVD vs CND compatible

Can someone tell me if they have purchased a Nav. DVD from the U.S. and used it on a Canadian TL? If so does it work?

The U.S. site want's $185 for the DVD while Canadian wants $280.
I asked Acura Canada if the U.S. disk would work and they stated "As your vehicle is a Canadian specification model, the intended navigation DVD to be used in your TL is sold only in Canada. The bilingual interface, and other features are not compatible. We cannot recommend that you buy the DVD sold for American specification vehicles."

I don't need bilingual and who knows what "other" features they are referring to?

TIA

John

it should work, as when we were hacking the navi back in the day canadian users were able to get the male voice. I don't see an issue with it working.

Thanks for the reply. I can't see it being a problem either.
I would just feel better if I knew someone here is running the US disk in a CND vehicle before I plunk down my cash.

Just picked up a 2007 TLS and was a bit surprised that you have to switch nav discs when going across the border... is there a work around this?

And... I am interested in how I might get the male voice in a Canadian model... is is just using a US disc?

Switch discs? How many are we supposed to get with our cars?
I just got my TL last week and noticed my maps do not extend to the southern USofA... should there be a second disc so I can go beyond Virginia?

I got 2 discs... one for Canada and one for the US. Not sure how much the US one covers as I haven't had it in yet.

Thanks guys,

I spoke with my sales rep last night, oops, he thought he put disc 2 in the glove compartment - honest mistake?!
He said to drop by and he'll give me number 2.
He's one of the good guys , I believe him.

OK so no one has bought a disk from the U.S. and used it in a Canadian car?

Can anyone please tell me when the CND Navi disk is usually updated? The Acura site say's Fall, but what month was the last vr. available to Canadians?

TIA

This is what I got from the acuranavi site's FAQ:

Can my navigation system provide coverage for Mexico or Canada?

Coverage for Canada includes all major metropolitan cities and interconnecting roads.

Note: When traveling in Canada, the driver should select kilometers for units. This will allow map units and voice guidance to agree with the posted signage.
