Can you hack out the Nag Screen or not??

Seen a lot of discussion about hacking the navi, but have not seen a clear indiciation of whether there's a way to remove the nag screen altogether and reduce the overall time it takes to go from starting the car to actually using the navi. I'm not worried about pressing OK. That's easy. But I'd like to reduce my wait time. Then again, it appears to me that the navi needs a certain amount of time to "boot up", and while the nag screen is up, the booting process continues. So that leads me to believe that even if there was a way to get rid of the nag screen, we'd still be waiting the same amount of time for the system to boot up and load the local map.

Any comments on this?

I think you are correct. Basically the system needs some amount of time to boot, just like your PC (the underlying operating system os Windows CE from what I understand). I'm not sure how much time is built in to make you read the disclaimer, but I think a good part of it is the OS booting.

The other thing that would change is that you would not get a blank screen when you don't want navigation. In today's car, if you don't press OK within a certain amount of time, the screen goes blank. If you hack out the OK button you would always drop into navigation mode. I guess different people want different operation in this respect. Í actually prefer the blank screen when I don't need navi, but I can see where some would prefer the moving map to be on at all times.

The nag screen itself goes away but..

You can hack the intial graphic but then when that disappears the screen is blank for the exact same amount of time. So yes in essence the nag screen goes away but you still have to wait until you can actually use it. It is annoying either way. Instead of it saying ok, it says GO. But you pressing the button behind a blank screen. This is how it worked when I hacked my friends 05 TSX. It could be different now.

I agree with emuyshondt.

The MDX navi has a faster load time I've heard. I think this is due to newer hardware. Something to look for in the new '07 is if they upgrade the Nav DVD drive.

That settles it for me then. I'm not going to go through the effort to hack my navi if I can't reduce the wait time to use the system.

I was toying with idea of overclocking Navi computer, so it would do everything faster, but never got around researching it.
