which cable or ipod

Hi - to hook up your iPod to the Aux in the TL's centre console is the iPod cable for the headphone or the flat connector at the bottom of the iPod (not sure what the proper name is)

So is it just an iPod extension cable or a special iPod to Aux cable?

Thanks

Confusing question. What year TL do you have? Do you have the Acura Music link or the DICE or USASpec? If it is any of those three they all plug into the bottom, dock plug. That way you can control the TL with the stock headunit/steering wheel controls. I am just not sure what your are asking exactly.

Hmm, I think you are looking for a 1/8 mini plug to 1/8 mini plug cable. You can pick one up for $2 at Frys or Radio Shack. Or $25 at Best Buys.

The flat cable requires changes or addition to your car.

a little clarification

I am confused too !!!

I got the 2007 TL yesterday and only got as far as asking the salesman "Can I plug my iPOD in?" I was told I could by using the AUX input in the center console.

So now I have looked at the Aux input I am wondering what cable I need to buy for the iPOD. Would the cable go from the iPod proprietary thin connector at the bottom of the iPod to the aux jack or would it go from the headphone jack to the aux jack?

Thanks for being patient !!!!

For the aux input it's going to be a 'headphone to headphone' cable.. should be the same on both ends. To add an actual ipod cable that will charge your ipod and enable steering wheel remote control you need to buy an adapter that plugs into the back of your head unit

Here are some links. And No, I'm not the ebay seller. You can either buy it for 99 cent or $20 from Radio Shack. I personally am using the 99 cent and I also tried the $20 cable, they both sound the same to me.

If you combine this item:

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_ID=149006

with a headphone-to-headphone cable, you can use the aux in jack on your car with the bottom-of-the-iPod connector for charging.

Plug the Belkin adapter into your cig adapter and the bottom of your iPod, and run the headphone-to-headphone connector between the add'l jack on the Belkin adapter, and the aux in jack on the Acura. (Ignore the other options listed on the above-linked Belkin page.)

I don't have an '07 TL (I have an '06...if I'd known they were going to add the aux in jack to the '07 I would have waited...dammit!), but if the aux in jack and add'l cig adapter are both in the console, then you'll be good to go. I used this same setup on my previous car, an '06 Chevy Impala with an aux in jack on the radio, and it worked like a champ.

Perfect - thanks. That was the only draw to the FM solution (charging the iPOD) but I prefer your idea

Thanks again

Hi guys,

For all of those with 07/08 there is another solution to use and charge your ipod with the same cable. You can use the Kenwood cable below with a USB Lighter Charger and you can both use and charge the Ipod at the same time. I got mine at Best Buy for like $16 and I had the charger which I picked up at Fry's for $5. I picked up this idea from some other members in this forum.

Hope it Helps

Thanks

I got my 07 type s in april been using this since... for $20 bux can't beat it, I just leave my ipod on top of the cup holders (slid closed of course) drop the ipod in there and slide closed again when I exit...

PS. Haven't figured out wha the yellow audio input is for, but this plugs in to the bottom of the ipod and you plug the power into the input and the audio plugs into the car also... all you do is hit the aux putton or the buttom the steering wheel to scroll through them and voila, music plays... Ipod pauses and then shuts off when the car ignition is shut off... Ipod does not pause when you get a phone call via HFL, but of course you don't hear the music its just it keeps on playing with no audio

That yellow one is a video output, for video iPod's.

hey what up???

You will need Dom's unit or AV electronic unit that enables you to use your navi screen as the video display... these units go for about ~$250 with a plug and play harness (plugs into your navi drive in the trunk)... once you have one of those units... all you do is plug that yellow video plug to it and you're be viewing your favorite video in a flick of a switch...

like Kennedy say...

A DVD player? No, I can't see why unless you're using it as a pass-through... like I said, it's an OUTPUT - meaning if you're watching a video on the iPod you can send that same image to a TV or anything with a RCA input.

Get a 1/8 mini plug cable. I got a 6' from Radio Shack for about $6. Works fine. With XM, FM and CD I opted not to get the one that charges at the same time- too many cables for me.

there's never stupid questions...

The '04-'06 TL does NOT have an Aux input... yeah man we got screw'd on that... and the MP3 capabilities... however, you can get yourself a DICE unit and it'll give you that option plus you'll get the text displayed in your nav screen or LCD display...
