Bluetooth (V500) Read me

Okay I have seen the endless threads about bluetooth and the phones that work/dont work with it. I have heard a lot of bitching about the V600 as if it works or not. Well anyways.....those of you who have not gotten a phone yet might want to consider the V500. I just got one a few days ago. Like most of you I was debating between all those other phones. I was in the middle of switching from AT&T to T-mobil and I was looking at my options. I went to GCI wireless to switch service, and I talked to the salesman about the V600, Nokia, etc. To see which was the best for my baby (TL). During the converstion I told them I was not going to pay a shit load of cash for the V600. So he said he could order me a V500 (huh? V500) Was my first thought. It does nostly everything the V600 does but better and cheper. It works great with my TL, not to mention it has all the bells and whistles. I suggest before any of you buy a bluetooth phone. At least inquire about the V500. Ask if you have any questions, i'd be happy to help.

I was thinking about it, but, it does not have the 850 MHz band that my company uses, since you use t-mobile that only uses 900 its probably good for you.

Hey man, no reason to apologize, there are a lot of people on the forum that use t-mobile, and others whose gsm provider uses primarily 900 MHz in their area, so your advice may come in really handy for them.

T-Mobile uses 1900mhz not 900. 900 is not used in the U.S, only 850 and 1900. You shouldn't buy a phone without 850 since ATT and Cingular are all switching to 850 and 850 penetrates buildings much better than 1900. (That's why Verizon's coverage is so good, they are mostly on CDMA 800)

T-mobil has better coverage for me. I switched from AT&T b/c their coveraged sucked. I get at least 1 or 2 more bars in places that my AT&T phone would only get one. I guess it also depends on where you live.

The V500 (and it's twin, the V525) are GSM Quad Band phones, operating on the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM bands. I have the V525 and use it on Cingular in the Chicago area and it works well with the TL. No caller ID in MID, but all other features work well. One caveat..the battery life is horrible, especially w/bluetooth. I recharge almost daily.

Cingular and At&t are not switching to 850mhz...They implemented that along with their 1900mhz coverage.

You're right, but they are not adding 1900 towers, all new towers are 850. Also for the gentleman with the v525, if I'm going to have a bluetooth phone with my TL then I want the caller ID to work on the car's display. There are lots of times people don't want to take calls, that's why flip phones have caller ID on the outside. If SE, Siemens and Nokia can make their phones work with the TL display, why can't Motorola?

Show me where they are not adding more 1900mhz towers? Keep in mind the 850mhz frequency is to fill gaps where 1900mhz cannot reach and it is not a direct replacement. T-Mobile is constantly growing and they only suppose 1900mhz in the U.S. I'd like to see proof.

This is OLD NEWS!!!! I have had the V525 for almost 3 months now and it works awsome. I can't believe people are just finding out about this phone now. I don't know why you had to order it from Japan DUDE!!! This phone has been out in UK (Europe) for a while now. I got mine off of ebay from a guy in the US. I have Cingular and it works fine with there service even though Cingular SUCKS...i can't wait to switch over to Verizon. Anyways i feel bad for all these peeps who waited for the V600 and then had all these problems. You just never can tell can you.

You've had it for 3 months? :lol2: I had a V525 3 months before that and had a Cingular customized V600 2 months ago. Keep in mind that people don't go searching everywhere for phones. Many of them just wait for providers to come out with phones. As for the V600, it will definitely get better once new firmware/flex versions come out. Why switch to Verizon? From the people I know on the East coast all the way from upstate NY to Florida, they use either T-Mobile or CIngular and coverage is awesome.
