Bluetooth phone with Bell mobility

For Canadian TL'ers

I'm finally planning to buy a Motorolla V710 on ebay even if I live in Canada. The phone is locked to verizon, but I found a place where they can unlock the phone, so I could register it here in Canada with Bell Mobility.

The problem here in Canada, is that there is no CDMA bluetooth phone available at all ! There is two CDMA carrier, Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility but neither one or the other has decided to import any bluetooth enable phone here !

If I want to use bluetooth, I must buy a phone with Fido or Rogers, where the coverage sucks !

Does anybody have done this before ? They can unlock the phone, but I'm wondering if every feature will work properly with Bell. Maybe I won't be able to use the menus, or few features....

If somebody has unloecked a phone before, please give me an advice !

Thanks !

Will Bell let you use a phone from another carrier? Someone mentioned that Telus has or will get the V710 soon, I'm not sure if it is true...

Is Rogers / Fido (the same company now) that bad in Chicoutimi? As of a few weeks ago things should be better because now Rogers and Fido customers can access both the Rogers and Fido networks.

Good luck!

I don't know the answer to your question but can tell you where to find it. Try howardforums.com (HOFO) for all information about cell phones. There is probably a section their on both the phone you want and your service provider.

Unlocked phones are sold everyday on ebay and various other places.

Tanks guys, I ordered this morning my brand new V710 from Telus Mobility. It's available since yesterday finally here in Canada, hooray !

So after 5 years with Bell Mobility, I'm gone for Telus....f*** Bell mobility and their useless phones....

About Rogers and Fido, there is no Fido coverage here....and I've been with Rogers before being with Bell mobility, and at the end, I was using my phone as pager since the reception was so bad....Back then they were using TDMA instead of GSM. ANyway, when I'm gone at sea, the coverage of CDMA (Telus and Bell) is much better than Roger, so I'm very happy now !

Thanks everybody, and I'll keep you in touch when I'll have the phone setup !
