Bluetooth pairing instruction

Hi All,

So tomorrow I am going to be spending some time with the TL that I have a deposit on. I would like to test the HFL while im there but I haven't figured it out yet. Could someone kindly explain how I can pair my handset with the HFL system so I can test it tomorrow?

Also if you know of anything else off hand I should check (electronically) feel free to let me know I read that the 06's came with XM satellite but I couldn't seem to find for the brief time I spent with the car.. is it supposed to be there somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

See http://www.acura.com/handsfreelink.aspx for setting up the phone and HFL.

https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp has a link to the owner's manuals for the car and Navi.

My TL has a button with the XM logo below the Navi screen, in the same set of buttons as the AM/FM and CD disc buttons.
IDK if Canadian TLs have XM, though.

G/L!

Thanks Will. I think I did read something that Canadian TLs don't have XM which is ridiculous.

Oh well..

Okay I paired the phone successfully and it worked great. Talked on it a bit too im very happy. One of my questions was whether or not it would show who is calling, unfortunately I didnt get an incomming call from someone who was in my phone book, so it just showed the number.

If the contact is entered in the phone book on my phone, will it show the contacts name who is calling me?

Also the handsfreelink site says that apparently we can upload our phonebook as well.. does this feature come on the 06?

Thanks for your help

Glad you got the HFL working.

The MID will NOT show a name-- just numbers.

Unfortunately, I don't think the HFL will automatically download the phonebooks of any phones except Sony Ericcsons-- that was true of the '07-'08 TLs. I think the contacts have to be downloaded one at a time, but IDK if that applies to the '04-'06.

Thanks again Will. Looks like the most i'll get is a number.. I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too can we?

Probably not sure a big deal to take a quick look at my phones screen to see the name of a number I dont recognize anyway.

I just have a dozen or so contacts in my car's phone book. I find it's actually quicker to start the call via the handset anyway- especially using the phone's voice or quick dial features. I use my phone to initiate the dial and then say 'transfer' to route the call to HFL after the call connects to the other party.

Thanks for the info! So the 06 does support phone contacts? Is the purpose of having them for dialing out only? And I assume you can call out the contact using the voice command as well?

I made a call on my handset while it was on HFL and it didnt come through the car audio system> The 'transfer' voice command explains why that happened. Great to know it can be done. Thanks.

Do you use "transfer" command so HFL will grab call in progress? I'm finding that I initiate a call with my handset and 3 out of 4 times it will simply disconnect from the phone... but it does work sometimes. Any incoming calls work flawless and can pick up.

Seems to be only when I initiate from the handset the HFL gets almost confused and drops the link.

So by using "transfer" command it links up again with your phone?

Yup... it has worked each and every time for me flawlessly using the "transfer" command.

The bluetooth in my 06 infiniti was crap. Not only did it not have this feature... but the quality was tinny and people hated when I called them on it. I didn't even use the feature anymore. Now with the Acura, people cannot even tell I'm on bluetooth... nice job Acura.
