Blank Temp (---) and XM settings reset
Blank Temp (---) and XM settings reset
I know, I know, this has been discussed before and I searched on threads about the matter and only found one talking about disconnecting the battery as a fix. I tried to search again but to my surprise we are limited to one search every 60 seconds. Frankly that sucks, I am not patient. I mispelled temperature and I had to wait, then I wanted to search for "xm presets" but no, I have to wait again, I know 60 seconds is not a long time to wait but then again what are you guys worried about? Bogging down the database? Rant over.
Now back to the main subject. Have my 05 auto/navi for about 2 months now. Knock on wood no problems at all sofar (no rattles, etc) One minor niggle is that occasionally when I start the car I'll get an disc read error but it seems to "reboot" itself. If it gets more frequent I'll take it in.
So today I go to the local Sears Hardware store in Bergenfield NJ and when I get back into my car the temperature gauge is --- and the XM presets are all channel 1 and the FM presets are not mine but on Auto. I have been using my FOB all day (my wife carries FOB 2 but has driven the car only once and today is miles away working in midtown Manhattan) I try shutting the car off removing the key locking and un locking to see if the presets come back. Nada.
I have two wild theory's maybe someone else can comment on.
1) Just yesterday I signed up for XM radio starting July 1st when my trial ends. They said I would be getting another 20 channels. Maybe they sent something to my car with updated firmware via satelitte? But this would not explain the temperature gauge... By the way got the $77 deal with no hassle at all.
2) This one may be even more far fetched (and the reason I mentioned where I was case it was someone from the forum) When I got back into my car there was a black 04 or 05 TL parked nearby. Could the FOB from that car be messing with my car?
I am not afraid to mess with the battery or the fuse box I just don't think that I should on a brand new car. Has anyone had these problems addressed by the dealer? What did they say? Was it fixed for good?

Well I am not going to fool around with the fuse box or the battery. I just made a service appointment for wednesday am with a loaner reserved (hopefully they give me a NSX, yeah right...). The dealer is not far from me and as long as loaners are free I don't mind having the dealer take care of these matters. I just hope they don't fix one thing and screw up another. I'll keep you guys posted. BTW I think the rear defroster is also not working...

Update June 10th - The dealer called and Acura Tech Cailifornia is overnighting them the electronics they need to do the repair. He says the fuse panel and some circuit boards are going to be replaced. My car should be ready by monday evening.
Will report outcome of the repair on Monday or Tuesday.
PS I correct myself, I do mind not having my TL especially since they (via Enterprise) gave me a POS Ford Explorer V6. I can't believe it's MRSP is over $32K. I am going to try to exchange it tomorrow morning for something else even if I have to pay 10-20 buck more per day.

XM can not send signals out to affect anythign more than activating and deactivating radios. Thats a fact jack!
These other things sound electronics related and I have not seen this on my 04. Is this an 05 problem? In 04 we had the "seat memory" problem to deal with and then they fixed it..

Here is the write up from my dealer for the blank temp/loss of presets/rear defroster problem

CUSTOMER STATES THE OUTSIDE TEMP GAUGE DOESN’T READ CORRECTLY
THIS IS ALL RELATED TO THE DRIVER SIDE FUSE PANEL
TECH TESTED SEVERAL ITEMS WITH OUR TESTER, FOUND SEVERAL

ALL SYSTEMS ARE WORKING FINE AFTER REPAIR

Frankly this doesn’t seem to help much except that they did not replace my Navi unit as others said their dealer had done. I hope they were not guessing the problem is solved simply by replacing the parts they say they did since we know just by disconnecting the battery and/or pulling the fuses (which they had to do to replace the things they did) fixes this problem. As long as it does not re-occur I’ll be happy.
