Hey @Sockr1 and @Swoosh,

I ended up getting a BlackVue DR550-GW 2CH and Power Magic Pro installed in my vehicle back in May. (
Amazon Amazon
)

The rear tint doesn't appear to affect it all that much. I have 20% on my back windshield and haven't had any real issues with not being able to see. I'll see if I can get some decent video of driving and parking and I'll get you guys a post.

Only problem is that my front camera had to be inverted to hide it completely behind the rearview mirror and so the cable connections can be made from the a-pilar. I'll post some pictures.

what are your overall thoughts on it so far? do you think it's a worthwhile purchase?

I think so, especially if you park in a densely populated area like a parking lot in a metropolitan area or if you leave your car on the street for long periods of time.

Had I known, my neighbors two houses down from me had their cars broken into. If I hadn't left the SD card in all day I would have probably caught that on video.

I think this purchase is similar to when I was justifying my radar detector purchase. It is insurance that I pay a one time fee for and it is up to me to use and utilize and maintain. It will never haggle with me or low ball me because, in the end, making sure I replace the SD card at the end of the night is up to me.

Hopefully will have some night video here soon.

SOCKR, in re reading the thread, I think I totally misunderstood the question....I kept reading visibility and not the rear window visibility

I do not have the camera installed in the back...I have only 1 forward facing camera...since am home and not traveling, I will be taking some shots for the setup tonight and will post it up....

sorry for misunderstanding the question completely and for being away for a while

Ah man, my DR500 is having some sort of power issues with the way I wired it to the fuse box. I'm going to have to rewire it to the HFL

man the whole reason for the mess is, I bought 2 units...installed one in my car, and installed one in the wifeys....I was getting good money for one of the units so I sold my unit to a local guy...

so I dont have any installed pics on my car....

the install was honestly super easy, I just took a multimeter, took the HFL unit wiring harness and went looking for a wire which was 5V on IGN and 0V when the car was off...done and done....

did the same on the wifeys car...
