Black Vue

Just bought the Black Vue in-car event recorder and need to hook up a continuous power supply for the battery management system. Instructions are all in Chinese but the wires a labeled (as shown) and seems pretty straight forward.

My question:
Anyone know what wires I can tap into under the dash for the Battery and “ACC” wires? There was a picture in the instructions about taping into a kick panel fuse box but I’ve never done that and the instructions were not vehicle specific.
Thanks in advance!

Damn, Serbj, you're good! I can tell the difference between German/French/Dutch but the Asian langs all look the same.

Thanks for the tip! Now, Where can I find a "add-a-fuse"?

I'll take some pics later. The way our cars are laid out, it's very difficult to see. I mounted behind the blue wind screen visor so everything has a shade of blue and a bid dim, but it really is nearly impossible to see. I'll post pics tomorrow (if I remember).

Thanks! I've never done this but I'm sure there are instructions on which wire goes where on the new fuse. It sounds pretty easy........watch me *uck it up.

Here is the "add-a-fuse" Question:

there is only one hook up wire (I'm assuming it is power since it's red), I can find a place for the ground but where should I tap the Accessory wire? I think the Acc. wire tells the BlackVue whether to be in park mode or regular mode.

Here are some pics of the install. Yes, it is mounted a little crooked, the ultra stick adhesive grabbed before I was ready.

Not that it'll add alot of value to this thread, but here's how you can tell the difference between the major Asian languages. Being able to read it is a whole different animal.

Korean: Straight line strokes, but you'll see a lot of of o's embedded their words. If you see a 'o' anywhere in a string of words, it's Korean.

Japanese: Shares some characters with Chinese, but their words have alot more curves and alot of alphabet like characters (Hiragana and Katakana). If you see alot of simple characters and curvy characters, it's Japanese. You'll never see an 'o'

Chinese: Generally straight line strokes and complicated characters (Hanzi). You'll never see an 'o'.

I am guessing the OP purchased this unit on eBay?
I contacted the manufacturer and they stated that eBay sales are not eligible for warranty and may potentially be knock-offs as well.

They advised me that there will soon be a North American site where you can purchase it through them ensuring you receive the real product and warranty support.
I think that it would be worth paying more to have the manufacturer stand behind the product.
Going after an eBay seller for after purchase support is like pulling teeth in my past experiences.

With all the nonsense that goes on the roads here in Toronto I want to get something to protect myself again drivers who simply put...should not have licenses to begin with.

There's a HUGE group buy for it over at RFDs.

$210

"Direct from manufacturer" so not a scam or knockoff.
Damn but it's sold out now. 62 page thread lmao
I think ever since that Toronto scam with the guy backing up into the car made everone in the GTA want one.

All you should have to do is hook the red ACC+ wire to the red wire coming out of the add a fuse. Then plug the add a fuse into something like the radio fuse spot that will turn on when the ignition of the car is flipped to the accessory position. Put the radio fuse into the add a fuse along with a new fuse that will be used for the Black Vue. Then just run the yellow BATT+ wire to either a constant power wire under the dash, or straight to the battery (personally I would recommend adding an inline fuse to this wire just to be extra safe). Finally ground the black wire. As far as I can tell the unit will detect when power goes to the ACC+ wire which will trigger it to record while your driving. As soon as the ACC+ wire loses power it will trigger the unit to go into park mode and will only draw power from the battery if one of the sensors is triggered. Hopefully something from that long explanation can help you out in the install.

As long as its hooked up properly the camera will only draw power from the battery when the car is off, if a sensor is tripped, when the car is on, the camera should be on as well.....or at least that is my understanding.

When hooked up correctly:

Engine/Acc on = Camera on and recording

Shock with engine/ACC on = Camera tags the recording as an "Event" for easy location later.

Engine/Acc off = Camera goes into "Park Mode". Shock or motion sensed = camera begins recording.

Purchased on Ebay, may be "hot" as the serial number was colored out. I bought two for $240 each shipped with power management system included. I work through monday so I'll try installing on Tuesday.

Anyone have a picture of a wire I can tap into for the battery lead. I don't have a multi meter, not do I really know how to use one. Pictures are appreciated!

This is more of a dashcam to record what's in front of you while driving. the newer models also have a parking feature where if it senses movement while parked in front of you it will start to record the event.

I've heard some people buy 2 and mount one for the front and rear, but i think that's a bit extreme lol

I agree, this would be nice. I'm thinking about tapping straight into the battery but it kind of scares me to run such a small appliance from such a large source like going directly from the battery. Am I being naïve?

Problem: I have the Red "ACC" hooked up to the radio fuse using the Add-A-Fuse technique. I have a inline fuse on the Yellow "Battery" wire and have it connected directly to the battery.

Here is what happens: Ignition on = no power to BlackVue
Ignigtion off = BlackVue goes into normal recording

What the hell?

^ Wow that is nuts. Luckily it appears everyone is okay from the video description.

So, has anyone figured out how to properly hard wire this device up yet?

I don't know about proper, but I have mine hard wired into the auto dimming rear view mirror. It turns off with the car and turns on with the car. I'd guess if I tapped into the lights it'd always be on which would drain the batteries after a couple days of not driving. But there's a little device that will auto shut it off after a couple hours.
