My nav screen has a setting where it goes black at night and has white roads. It's not that is it? Not to say you didn't think of that, just trying to troubleshoot.

So your screen is completely black with white lines running across it horizontally?

If so, this was the early indications of my navigation drive failing, then my navigation advisory screen where you press okay didnt appear, so I simply disconnected the battery then connected it(reset it)

Worked for a bit until a few weeks later my navigation showed, PLEASE CHECK DISC (green box with white outline)

I knew over the course of the 1st year buying my TL used it was going out.

Fast forward two years later it was still broken, common problem with the earlier TLs. I finally coughed up the money and paid Alpine to repair it. $350

You can call one of Alpine's call centers off their website. Tell them the symptoms you are having, they will just tell you to send it in to the closest repair center.

There is a list of information they will need when you ship it so in my case I typed up a letter stating car year, model, then a description of the problems I was having. I guess to figure out what components needed to be replaced and they asked to take out the disc before sending it out.

Does your disc still eject, this was a problem I was having with my TL it wouldn't eject.

First time around, they replaced the disc holder mechanism and a power module, when I got it back installed it first thing in the morning, it worked for 3 hours before the navigation died again.

Luckily it has a warranty with it, so called in again, they said send it out to us. I did, and I told them to give me a list of parts being replaced, they ended up replacing the motherboard, two power modules, the disc eject mechanism and some other part. They told me they rarely have a drive come in with so many problems but pretty much it was a brand new drive with all the major components replaced.

There is a DIY on how to attempt to fix it
here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/diy-how-fix-navi-disk-read-errors-873489/

NOTE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

But to remove it and send it out, the DIY video is here:

Hope this helps

Well if its your screen which I have only heard and read of a few threads having to replace the screen itself.

But the symptoms I had for my TL and the drive going out, I had the same black screen with horizontal lines across the middle. Large part of failure is the navigation drive which runs/shows the menus(e.g. navigation, destination input, XM and Radio) on the screen. Try to search through google and see what comes up, best search engine compared to the forum search.

Your drive maybe out, but I guess your screen might be going out.

If you really want to stick with OEM unit then yes contact Alpine etc off their website, Or modify that real estate where the screen is at there have been new threads popping up on just placing a 3G tablet there instead for better graphics.

But factory navigation uses satellites to track your location(OEM unit) as opposed to cellular signal triangulating your spot(tablet), and can be unreliable due to lack of powers.

As much as I hate the crunchy poor graphics, it works well with all the voice command system and other media. Just something I wanted to let you decide on since there are options, or just get a portable Navigation if you really dont want to repair it.

Since prices are still on the high end for the first two as 3rd option is relatively cheap.

I unhooked my battery to reset because I was gettin the message "disk reading error". Welllll now I'm getting "please check your disk" on my display and it won't go any further....nothing rest. My radio/XM play just no display. How do I contact Alpine?
