It doesn't get anywhere near as loud as it used to though. I have to be at 35 on the HU and -15 on the MS8 to get a decent volume.
When it's set up properly, it won't always sound as loud but measure the actual spl and it might surprise you. It always surprises me when I go to talk to my passenger with the volume sounding low yet you can't talk over the speakers. That's a low distortion system.

Try the sweeps at a lower volume and you might get more volume. That goes for anything such as the subs. Turn the gain down on the sub amp during sweeps and the sub will be louder.

I found out this exact thing with mine yesterday. I had the volume on about 24 and had a techno song on. Went to say something To my g/f and couldn't hear my voice. Kinda weird but amazed me. 99% of systems I've heard ate just bass/distortion monsters. Listen for a bit then turn it down bc it's fatiguing..not mine anymore!

Oh and IHC...there's a local guy to me that has 2 AE ib15's and I should be able to hear them in late October at a meet. Can't wait to hear IB. there's also a world champion installer here locally that I just found out about. He's over on DIYMA and 15 minutes away from me. Gave me his # and said I could come hangout and he'd have a look at the alt whine and problems I'm having. Gotta love forums!

I was playing around with the gain knob and I noticed that. Sub was too loud at first so I turned the gain up and did the sweeps again. I have been doing the sweeps at -40.

Does your remote out work? I had my amps connected to it but it never turned them on. So I checked the voltage at the remote out terminal and got nothing.

Totally agree on the distortion fatigue. I couldn't listen to the stock system much about 15 without it annoying me quickly. With the new higher power system in there, it doesn't sound any louder at max, but I can listen at high volume for my hour long commute.

The remote out has to be used or you can get a nasty pop when you power on. There's an adjustable delay, maybe it's set for a long delay?

I'll try it again. I haven't tried it since last night but I had it on for a minute or two and the MS8 wouldn't turn on my other amps.
I don't remember an option for that but I'll check.

On a side note. I love how when you turn on the car, the volume gradually goes up. Just the little things.
