Better mic for Bluetooth Handsfree system??

Is there a way to install a better (aftermarket) mic for the HandsFree system? The person we're talking to can barely hear us, and if we're traveling at any sort of speed, then forget it....the background noise prevents the person from hearing us much at all. It's kind of worthless in highway driving environments. And, yes, all the windows and sunroof are shut. I've also played with different volume levels, however I think that just controls output sound.

Any thoughts?

It's likely you have a defective HFL which should be replaced under warranty.

There is nothing wrong with the hands free link...it works just fine. The microphone simply picks up to much background noise (road, wind, etc.).

The microphone is part of the HFL module-- if the mike is bad, you'll need to replace the HFL.
A couple of threads mentioned a mike adjustment level in the Navi diagnostic menu, but I haven't seen a thread mentioning whether that option was available or could adjust the mike for its HFL mode.

if its that bad, the only thing i could think of it doing something totally custom and removing the HFL unit taking out the mic extending the wires and relocating it to the a-pillar next to the seatbelt head level. too much work! just roll your windows up and speak clearly LOL!
