Best place for Carpc??

Hello Acurazine
I am looking into installing a Carpc, don’t know when yet because I’m trying to do everything (subs) all at once. Just getting all the parts and info right now. But my question is this, where is the best place to put the computer case at because of temp problems mainly, look, and use of it?? I have been looking at all the threads, and still don’t know. I don’t think it will get crazy hot like most places here in Memphis but it is still a concern during the summer time.

Right now I’m thinking of putting in the trunk. I am either thinking of putting the computer in the side corner (where normal navi is) or hanging it from the top trunk. Where I put it, will decide on what case I buy because I need a new one anyway, but I have the rest of the computer parts.

Below is a picture of how my subs set is going to be (that’s not the final look of it but you see how it is). The red circles are the possible places for the computer case.

Any input is welcome, thanks

Yo Mem... by the looks of your setup you're bumping it big time bro. Pick the spot with the least amount of vibration circuit boards are knowing to break when they are that close to subs. The bigger the circuit board the easier is snaps.

I would say try to keep it in a ventilated area and try to reduce the amount of rattled by wrapping the mount in dynamat. Having it on the roof of the trunk would make it a clean install.

I've had my carputer in my 97' 2.2 CL trunk for about 1.5 years sitting right next to my sub in the computer case. Haven't had any problems with vibrations from the sub, and no problems with the computer itself.

I don't think it matters where you put the computer as far as ventilation. I've driven 9 hours straight and the computer was working fine even with the heat in the south.

The one thing I recommend is to make sure all cables being hooked up to the carputer be long enough so you can easily install the computer. This is something I didn't do, but whenever I rearrange my trunk I'm going to make sure it's done right.

all right, thanks for the input. I guess i'll go the route of hanging it from the top, so i will still have some room for things and look cleaner.

I have one more question, will i loss my 6-disc changer to the carpc? I know some people have more the temp display down, but does the 6-disc still work with that or was it hooked up the carpc some how?

how do these "carpc's" hold up to changing weather/humidity conditions, etc .. as they are constantly exposed to external temperatures etc...

Correction on the top, but I've had mine in my car since Summer of 07'. So it's gone through 2 summers in Georgia filled with humidity. Still going strong and haven't noticed any harm to it.

I custom fit a laptop drive into the lower compartments in the front under the readio, burns dvd and all. I ran 2 USB cord (1 power, the other signal) under the center console to the trunk to the PC
