Yea, it's made by Comptech. I have installed about 6 of them now. It's about a 20%-30% reduction in throw and it's just as smooth as the OEM setup. I put mine in a few days ago and love it.( I just got another TL on Saturday)

It's not to bad. Just follow the directions that come with it. they are well written and easy to follow. It's worth the $60 bucks for the shorter throw in my opinion

Unhappy Pioneer a no go...

Here's Pioneer's response to my e-mail inquiry about the CD-IB100...

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.

No they will not, they only work with the Pioneer head units with IP-BUS inputs.

Thank you

Inquiry:With regards to your introduction of the CD-IB100 , will this work with the Pioneer head units in the 3rd generation Acura TL's (2004, 2005)?

Thanks

I've got a question for you guys -- to anyone who has taken the dash apart and seen the plug that connects to the head-unit in the AUX port.

How many wires are there going into that AUX port now? Is it three wires like the dongle on the Blitzsafe adapter or are there more than three? Please get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks!

Since you have no XM I'm assuming it's going to be the same setup at the US spec 2004 TSX and only have 3 wires. When the TSX got XM in 2005 the harness looked like it does in the TL with XM.

I was wondering more for US cars with XM -- do they have more than 3 wires? I'd like to find a solution that'll work for US cars as well as Canadian cars.

Yea, the white AUX harness has about 8 I think on all models with XM

Really? It has 8? Wow, so the 3-wire dongle is useless for the US TL then right? The Canadian TL doesn't have ANYTHING plugged into the AUX port making things easier for us... but for the US TL, they'd have to change the dongle for sure.

I've already hooked up my Blitzsafe adapter and it works except having to switch the yellow wire. And now, the fuse to my radio blows every now and then which is driving me nuts...

Any idea about that??

Do you have NAV? The TSX only has a 3 wire if it has NAV, that 3 wire harness controls the bus for the touch screen function. Without nav I think it's the same (no plug at all)

Blowing fuses...I'd check everything for a short in a wire some place.

I have Navi on my Canadian TL. The AUX port is completely empty. I just plugged the Blitzsafe adapter in and didn't have to use the Y-dongle.

I'm guessing the Navi for the TL does not use the AUX port whether it's the US model OR Canadian model. I think the AUX port is used strictly for the XM. We could test it if some fearless soul would disconnect the AUX plug and power up to see if Navi still worked. If Navi still worked, we can conclude that the AUX plug is used only for XM radio and since the Canadian TL doesn't have XM radio, it therefore has a free AUX plug.

tried that, the touchscreen won't work at all if you pull that plug out

Really?? That's very weird... I guess that's because the head unit is programmed to look for XM on the bus and when it doesn't find it, it freaks out.

That plug controls the touch screen as well. without it you get no screen functions

so folks,
is the best answer if you have Nav and want to keep XM to do a hardwired FM modulator?

Does anyone have this? how is the sound?

i still don't understand why you can't install a switch so that you can connect the iPod to the XM port of the stereo, and switch between XM and iPod. has anyone done that?

thanks!
