Best Buy and Circuit City

Would you guys trust the installers at Best Buy and at Circuit City because I been looking to add a sub just for some bass. If any of you guys have had anything installed by Best Buy or Circuit City I would like to know how was the install and did you trust the guys who did the work?

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Its not like it was 10 years ago (sadly) when I was installing for a big outfit in NY - not a chain. Now, the knowledge required increases significantly, b/c of electronics. I have not run into a positive experience yet from the big chains- as they push volume not quality. I would strongly suggest getting personal recommendations from friends before giving any shop your $$$ and your car.

well to be honest i have had a couple things installed in my car at Best Buy here in Newington, CT i dont have a Acura TL but once getting something installed in my car they were installing subs and amps and speakers in a 05 TL and they did a damn good job. I have a friend that works there and he told me that the guy never came back with problems. They have installed plenty of things in my car(2 alpine amps, 2 alpine type-r subs, Avic-N1, interior speakers, head rest tv's, visor tv's and Viper Alarm system. They did a damn good job in my car never had any problems with the installs the products themselves gave a little trouble but they took care of them free for me and replaced them free for me(i had warranty) but you just have to be lucky enough to get a best buy with a well experienced person best i can suggest is ask them how long their installers have been working there. From what i know Best Buy usually requires more experience when working in there install section(well the ones here in CT) but try to get a little back ground of ur installers back ground. There were a couple times where people did come back for problems or mishaps but those where done by the not so experienced installers i usually ask for the more experienced installers and if possible stay in the stall section and keep an eye on ur car make sure if they break something or dont know how to figure something out they dont experiment on ur car. Also find out if they have ever installed on a Acura before.

I'd go CC over BB just because from my experience, they tend to be a bit more careful, and they take their time. BB is all about speed....go go go....ugh!

lol, i hate BB and CC, but there is a certified master installer that works at one near me, and anything i dont do myself (remote start alarm) i will take to him, he is REALLY good, and only works there because of hte massive volume always coming in the shop, and they are known to be badass

I've had car components installed at both locations, and it is really hit or miss. There are some technicians that really take the time to make sure the job is done right, and then there are junior college dropouts that couldn't give a crap about your car. With that said, I would never take my TL in to either place to have any audio work done. When I had my 1997 3.0 CL, they refused to touch it because it had a Bose sound system. I couldn't imagine them being able to do anything with our sophisticated audio/nav setup without completely screwing it up!

Circuit city did a great job installig my sirius. No complaints...I would never go to best buy for anything--everytime I go there I leave wondering how anyone there is capable of ever getting hired anywhere.
