Back speakers

Is it me or the back speakers are not powerful at all. It seems to me like most of the music is only coming from the front. But when I use a DVD-A the back speakers come to life. Has anyone else noticed this?

I found myself using the fader to the rear, but mostly to get more bass. Once I added my 12" subs, I leave everything default.

They seemed to have biased everything to the front for stereo sources as that's more natural (performance in front of you). With 5.1 source, it's up to the recording engineer to steer the sounds out of the various corners to taste, so you'll usually notice more stuff back there, especially since it's usually discrete and not just mirroring what's up front.
