Audio system problem with TL?

Two weeks after I bought the TL it started developing a severe static problem on the rear left speaker. This problem was present on all the audio components (CD and radio). The problem seems to be worse when car was cold and directly related to engine rev. However, after a week or so, it got a lot worse such that I could not listen to any audio component in the car. The car has been to the Acura dealer 3 times so far for total of two weeks. In the last attempt, they replaced the whole audio component in dash with a brand new one along with the rear left speaker. Problem DID NOT go away and is very mych present at all times. Anybody else out there experiencing audio problems? What was the action remedy? Thanks in advance.

Have not heard of that one. But FWIW, since they swapped the head unit and the speaker, they have narrowed it down to two possible components: a shorted speaker wire or a bad channel in the amplifier (passenger side kick panel). I'd give the dealer a call and have them plug in an amplifier that's known to be good to see if it's that. Should take them all of fifteen minutes. If it's not the amp, they should check the wiring for a short.

Good luck.

rooz,

i know your post if from 2.5 yrs. ago, but did you ever find out what the problem was with you speaker? I'm having the same issue now and have already brought my TL in once and have to go in again because it did not get fixed the first time. Thanks for any info. you can give.

The original poster has not logged insince sept of 2004 and had all of 1 post so I don't think he or she is going to respond to you. I would take Chips Ahoy's response and ask the dealer to perform those checks.

Chips Ahoy,

Thanks for the reply. From other posts it seems to be either a bad speaker, speaker wire or channel in the amp. Hopefully they figure it out 'cause I have hardly been listening to my radio on my commute the past week because it is so annoying!
