Hey, Im looking to upgrade my audio in my 06 TL. Im new to aftermarket audio. I want to keep the stock look but upgrade the bass and loudness of my system. My budget is around 3000 or less. Any suggestions?

3 G's you can find some good stuff. However you will need to run all new wires cause I believe that the factory bose system is set at 2 ohms so you will need to hook up a signal processor, run new wires (not necessary), and hookup a couple amps that run @ 4ohms or whatever your new speakers require. Also, if you search there are tons of write-ups on getting the system replaced in the TL.

Well I have tried alot of stuff from the all out expensive to the inexpensive. I have been really impressed with elemental designs equipment, sounds amazing and handles great power.

However, I am also a fan of Alpine (No I am not just trying to be cool), Kicker (I know, booo, so what?), Boston Acoustics, and Diamond

Any of those really would get the job done, just make sure that you get the high end of their lines and you won't be disappointed.

Also, do yourself a huge favor, get good amps and woofers. Don't go cheap, but with 3 g's you should be able to get some nice equipment, don't skimp from the wiring, connectors, amps, subs, speakers, whatever just get nice equipment and it will last years and years.

well its definitely work to replace all the factory speakers....most just turn down the bass completely in them with the treble up and just install woofers to make the bass and people seem to like it.

Its just so much work to replace all the what 7 speakers in the TL?

But if you are seeking for the ultimate audio experience then yes, replace all the speakers. I am going with the before solution. Since they are bose speakers (not bad) then I am just installing my Type-R's and leaving it (knowing I might install other speakers later).

Its just basically a judgment call on your part.

What would I need to keep the stock deck look? Like Audio integration into the touchscreen? If I would keep the stock speakers. How big of an amp would Iwant for 2 10's? or 2 12's?

well it really depends on the woofer.

Since i know this, I have two Type-Rs with two MRD-m605s. That is aprox. 644 Watts to each Type-R. For a grand total of around 1200 Watts total at 85% efficiency. This particular system pulls about 95 Amps from the alternator. So, this is plenty powerful for our TL (of course you can also go more). But its all based on your preference rather than 'how big an amp'.

How about this...how much bass do you want? Loud? Easy listening? Kinda there? What woofers have you heard are good?

well I listen to mostly rock. And I heard that i should probably go for 10''. I do want a lot of bass though when the song does have it. But i dont want it to distort the sound. I want it to sound good when it is loud and easy listening.

I was looking at JL audio, Boston Acoustics, and Alpine a little bit ago.

What do you have in way of a head unit?

well I am sticking stock I want to hide my awesome audio from the prying eyes of the public, I am going to use a Rockford Fosgate sound processor (3Sixty.1) to handle my signals to my subwoofers and eventually speakers.

I know JL audio is a very good maker of woofers and a 10" would be efficient for ya.

well since I don't have the Navi its hard for me to say. I like the cleansweep but for my install I am going to go with the 3Sixty.1 for reasons I am not sure yet, maybe less expensive I don't know. lol

does the 3sixty.2 show up on the navi? and allow you to change the audio settings?

How are you liking that setup? anything you would change?

ok so did you run from your head unit into the 3sixty and then from the output on the 3sixty to your 4 channel and then to your speakers? Cause that is how I am thinking I should do it

I replaced all my speakers and the sound is amazing I could not be happier. It took 2 attempts, but, now i honestly believe my sound is close to perfect. I'm sure anyone of the major brands would sound great (Diamond Audio, Focal, Dynaudio...). I suggest whatever you do replace all your speakers with the same brand. I have the following Focal/JL setup:

Focal 165 k2p UV for the rear
Focal 165KBE Front
Focal TN 52 (Tweeters to be installed)
Focal 100 KP (custom kickstand)
3sixy.2 signal processor
JL bass knob
10w6v2
jl 500/1
jl 450/4

The bass is clean more than enough for my car. Later on down the road I may upgrade to 1 10w7. But, believe me 1 10" hits hard, so 2 will probably be insane. Also, I put sound deadening material in my front/rear doors and truck, however, the rear deck continued to rattle. This annoyed the shit out of me. Eventually my installer just cut out a piece of the rear deck and built me a custom grill. Now I have zero rattle. My kickstands and rear grill look stock, nothing suggests an aftermarket setup. Good luck with your install.
