Why? Do you use a Stylus on your NAVI Screen? Do you park your TL in "harsh environments, manufacturing and commercial operations"??

I have heard of many folks using the screen protector from Strong Engineering.

I've used they joystick, but often when I push it in (especially while driving) the stick moves before I press. Beginning a maddening dance of pressing cancel and trying to position that little devil, orange square to where I want it. And then beginning the dance again.

Make your own screen protectors

Screen protectors can be made from clear Avery Sheet lamination

For those that have the SE T610, it comes with a piece of cloth for cleaning your T610 screen. I use that to clean my navi screen only.

Touch the screen...thats what it was designed to do. Clean with a soft cloth as J RIDE 81 posted above.

dashotgun,

Did you try the nu shield protectors after all? If so, would you recommend them?

For now, I'll try the maintenance route with the highly recommended (from various threads) soft microfiber cloth.

thx...

ps. I am not a fan of the joystick.

On the rare occasion when I touch the screen, I don't use my fingertip because I hate the spots it leaves. I'll either grab a tissue from the cupholder and use that, or I might use my sleeve, or sometimes I just bend my finger down and use the joint to touch the screen. I seldom touch the screen, although I agree that if you hit a bump or something the joystick can be frustrating.

Use the back off your fingernail (not the tip) no oils and it will not scratch the touchpad ... You can use this method on a PDA as well then you don't have to use the stylus.

I was actually thinking of getting a screen protector like that... I mainly use the touch screen (as it is much easier then joystick), and it does leave some marks on the screen. Of course I clean it, but I figure getting a screen protector will only help..

thanx for the link

I have the screen protector designed for the 04 TL. I really like it since I dont have to worry about getting the touch screen dirty or messed up. It does really help...I havent even cleaned the screen protector since it doesnt need any cleaning. So I highly recommend it!

I agree I bought from nuscreen customer service was vg one screen was shipped with a sl kink in it they shipped me a new one no problems. it fits perfectly and as narmeen mentioned does not need to be cleaned. they provide 2 screen protectors for the price. Highly recomended if your fussy about your car.

I tried one from Strong engineering and was not impressed. The fit was not the best.
I removed it and am thinking of trying one from NuShield. Hopefully the fit is better

Can't comment on the Strong engineered one but if you do not look closely you would know there was a screen protector on. I ended up putting the "crimped in shipping" one on and have been to lazy to remove it and put up the replacement one. I think it is worth the small investment as I am very 'anal' about my toys.

I use the one from Strong's Engieering.

Even if you are really good about not scratching the nav screen, somebody in your car that can't get their hands off the XM of the nav eventually will. It also makes cleaning a breeze.

I also have the Strong Engineering protector and have not been impressed with it. Fit is lousy, it doesn't stick well and it clouds the display too much. I'm going to try out the nuscreen one as well to see if it works any better. Thanks for the tips.

I just want to make sure. Does the nushield product adhere to the NAVI? That is, is there a glue that allows the screen protective stick to the screen?

I contacted nu shield shortly after I picked up my TL back in October '04 because they didnt have a shield protector for the 2004/2005 TL. So, they offered to let me be the tester for the TL screen protector. I provided the measurements for them and they sent me out a few shields to test.

I highly recommend these. The folks there are great. The product works great, there is no adhesive and you cant even see them. All you see over time are the tons of fingerprint smears at which point you simply throw it out and replace with a fresh one. Try that with your actual nav screen.
