Anybody mess with Dynamat Extreme?

I am thinking of Dynamatting my doors, I was wondering if anyone had done this and if it made a difference. If so where did you purchase the mat from?
Thanks

Do you think dynomating the trunk will get rid of all the rattles 100%. I am currently running over 1200watts of Rockford Fosgate power into 2 12's facing the rear and when I turn the volume up past 14 my trunk rattles like crazy. I can see the trunk's sheet metal shaking/flexing causing it to rattle. Because of it, I cannot turn the volume so high b/c the rattle has drowned out the base. And it is very embarassing when other ppl hear nothing but rattles. So did you dynomat your whole trunk???? How much would it cost to dynomat the trunk??? I have no problems with my doors. Your help is much appreciated dude!!!

I love dynomat. I used it on pretty much all of my past car with systems. I guess when I get time I may do the door and trunk in the TL....just to help with road noise and such. If I do upgrade the system....dynomat will be done on most of the car.

How bout this?

There are MUCH LESS expensive alternatives to actual Dynamat that will give you nearly the exact performance...

A friend just did his GTS with a "knock off" and the car sounds (or doesn't sound!) great...

Save that $ from getting actual Dynamat and go with an alternative... You'll get the same results and can buy more goodies...

Here is what my friend used: http://www.fatmat.com/

with that much power i dont think dynamat will fix everything... it should be good help tho!!

i didnt do the whole trunk cuz i didnt have enough (i used left-overs).. i did only the trunk lid and the area around the stock sub.. it helped a bit for rattles and keeping sound IN the car not outside of it

a trunk kit is around 150 CND... like 120 USD.. but im really not sure about that.

ed99...be carefull with that power....you've only got one set of ears and sound levels over 110db's will permanently damage your ears after a few years. I'm a pilot, and even though I've used active noise cancelation headset's ever since I began flying in High School, I've suffered permanent hearing damage. I'm not deaf, but my ear's are not as good as they were 10 years ago. I used to love audiophile equipment, but lately, my hearing is not capable of hearing the difference in the high end equipment that I used to enjoy so much. I don't mean to preach, but I just wanted to warn you from my own experience with noise and the damage it does after time.

Kyle, there's also other products such as Cascade and FatMat that may be a good alternative to dynamat. IMO dynamat is heavy and if you can find the same dampening characteristics in something lighter, I would use that. Don't get me wrong, I think Dynamat is good stuff, but I can do without the added weight.

Thanks guys..... I see a few have recommended Fatmat, since they are a big presence on ebay, I'll probably order that.

Havokgroup,

How long would it take to dynomat the rear trunk in our TL??? And is it hard to do?? Thanks

JetJock,

I appreciate your concerns buddy but I don't turn the volume that high. Only when friends want to check out the system. Otherwise I usually don't go higher than volume 10.
