I have it and it is terrible. I think that the radio signal from the phone interferes with Bluetooth. I almost cannot use it in the car due to echo, static and hissing. I had this phone replaced twice with no success.

I've had the Blackberry 7100i since October 2005, and it works fine with my 05. Once and a while I get a nasty echo, but that's only when I make an outgoing call, I never have any problems when someone calls me. It's not as seamless as my old T637 SE phone, but it works fine for me.

Hope that helps.

I'm in the same situation ...

I have my friends i930 which is $475 (or $325 with a 2 yr re-sign) which I could buy for $175 off of him OR I could buy the Black Berry 7100i off Nextel.com for $350 (or $200 with 2 yr re-sign). My OTHER friend wants to trade cell phones with me if I bought the i930 and he'd give me his old BlackBerry i7100. But the thing is the i930 is a lot more than the BlackBerry ... shouldn't he be giving me some money and not just do an even trade?

Or I could just buy the 7100i off off Nextel.com for $200 (only $25 dollars more than the 2 yr agreement) and have both phones ... decide which one I want to finally keep ... then ebay the other.

Obviously my goal is to have a cool phone that also has blue tooth for my '06 TL. but if the blackberry doesn't work good in the TL ... it's pointless in having in the 1st place. I wanna be able to use it daily.

What the heck should I do ?!?!? Any more 7100 users out there?

Unhappy

Just incase anyone wanted to know ...

I tried the 7100i from Nextel and I do not like it. I'm switching back to my old Nextel i920. There's static in the speakers with my outgoing calls, HFL doesn't recognize my "STORE" command most of the time, and I also hear feedback/echo's in my calls, etc. etc. If there was a phone that worked perfect with the HFL then I would consider getting it ... but if it doesn't work perfect. I dont want to mess with it.

SO glad I didn't buy the 7100 and just borrowed it from a friend for a couple weeks.

Does anyone use the i870 with their TL ?

You do know the i930 does not have bluetooth right.........

I paired the i870 a few times with my TL a few months ago before I payed the ETF to get away from Nextel. It wored just as good as my RaZr does now. If I were you I would have the i870 for you phone and just get the blackberry set up on a data only plan for email. Thats what i had my company do for me. Now I have the razr for my phone and a palm 700p for my pda (data only).

My 7100i works good on incoming calls but sucks big time when you dial out, I would say 9 out of 10 times you will hear echo and static, I'm now using a Motorola BT headset instead. I seriously think the phone is just not compatable with Acura's handsfree.

I had the Nextel I870 and it worked great with my 06. The i870 worked great 99% of the time - no echo. Then I switched to to the 7100i for the blackberry feature.
The 7100i does not work well 99% of the time. Almost all of the time the phone echos through the speakers and the caller on the other end tells me to call them back. It makes the Acura handsfree system totally worthless.
I have removed all pairing and I am back to doing it the old school way.

Unhappy Use Vibrate Profile to avoid echo problems

I just got this phone for work and usually keep it on the vibrate proifile when I am at the office. It works fine in the car when I keep it on that profile. As soon as I put it in normal or loud profile, I get the echo problem that others have described. It is a pain but I can live with having to keep it on vibrate when I am in the car. If anyone else can try this and confirm, that would be good. Thanks.

I think the vibrate profile worked!

Read numerous forums regarding the 7100i and Acura Echo problem with no real solution. I didn't think that it would work but I think it has. Just tried it and everyone I called said I sounded just fine.

I'm troubleshooting for the boss. He's been living with this problem for months. If this truly works and he's happy with it. I'll let you all know.

I made no changes to the setup of the phone
I didn't re-pair it
I didn't back level
I was in the parking lot with the car off and the radio initially off (don't know if that makes a difference)
All I did was set the profile to vibrate

Not only would this be awesome (and somewhat stupid) if this works, it'll make me look like a hero.

Cheers!

BTW, how do you check the version of BT on the phone and the car? 2006 TL.

The vibrate profile, didn't work. Some calls are still bad. I asked the boss to see if there was a noticeable pattern, but he wasn't aware of one. This isn't even a minor success. Also, since I'm a newbie with this phone (used to have a Treo 650...I miss that phone ) I wasn't aware that the walkie-talkie feature doesn't work when the phone is paired with the Acura HFL. Is there a way around this? Can the bluetooth be shut off (disabled) on the car, so that a BT headset can be used instead?

Thanks.
